Either of you know the location and/or cost (per person roughly) of a place called the Hula Hut?

It's at the end of Lake Austin Blvd, west of downtown Austin.

No idea on price. Few times I've been there (went to Mozart's, a coffee shop next door), the parking was uber-shitty. Maybe it's better now?

Hula Hut's awesome!

They are a Chuy's restaurant (think Austin meeting 2 years ago). Parking/group photos may be an issue. They don't have much right in front of the restaurant, but there is plenty within walking distance. Prices are normal Austin casual (about $6-12 a plate).

Hula Huts cool but on a Saturday your gonna have to get there kinda early or the seating is kinda close quarters.

hey, this is where I met a bunch of people when I first got here. I'm guessing Brian made the suggestion?? I'd be willing to go back, but why don't we BBQ or something? we don't have a house to hang out at?

Hula Hut was suggested mainly because I have no idea where to go in Austin. It is also in a high traffic area (which ties in to one goal, I would believe, about club meetings: exposure). We can go elsewhere, but it looks like, from the responses above, that Hula Hut would be a good place to go mid-day.

That being said, I am always up for new ideas and direction, and by no means am I the final say on where we hold a meeting. If you can drum up enough support to hold a BBQ at your place, someone else's, or a park and their is no major objection to it, let's go for it! (BTW - You wanna take charge of planning a BBQ if we indeed do one?)

I haven't been to Hula Hut since I cooped in Austin. And I know where the place is. : )

I eat lunch there a lot, it's on Lake Austin. Average dish is about $10. You have to park across the street for sure.

If everyone is fine going to the Hula Hut, that's fine with me, no need in planning something if we don't have to.

But if we want to BBQ, I don't mind doing whatever. It's up to you guys.

We could always eat there and then head to someone's house afterwords. I have a two player basketball net in my garage, and a big screen, and a PS2. We could watch Scott play Dance Dance Revolution *, and then send Tracey to the microphone for some Karyoke Revolution*. That's about all my house has to offer.

* both jokes by the way. we would all take turns of embarrassment

not if its a hula hut. Way to far south. I am stuck working in round rock.

Hula Hut is my Favoriate Place in Austin, but there is not alot of room and its loud in there, but you could eat there and then have the meeting outside on the docks, or just down the road there's a little park with a boat ramp....
there is only 50 parking spots for all the resturants on the strip....I would suggest meeting else where....

i am telling you rudys country atore and bbq is the bomb. They give group discounts or we can order by the lb. Brisket, sausage, turkey, ribs, chciekn what ever u want.

I hate to admit this but I kinda agree with Scott. I am not that familiar with Austin hot spots but if the place has little parking, is noisey and we need to go into Ausin proper with it's traffic than why not look at Round Rock? I've been to Rudy's here and they not only have adequate parking but ours has a side room we could probably fill and utilize. I think they are all built about the same but not sure.

Just a thought but if it's just a get together than anywhere is fine. If we want some sort of meeting we may want to re-think the location.

What do the other Austinites think? How many form SA and south will be coming and have to drive through Austin to Roundrock? Us northerners hit RoundRock first

I don't care where we meet. As I stated, I am not from Austin, and someone mentioned Hula Hut was a good place to go. If we want to switch, that is fine by me. Chia post up the address for Rudy's and we can switch. BUT we need to post the info by tomorrow night.

Its a bar and restraunt. If you guys are looking for things to do after the meeting ask me or Jason when you get here we know a lot of the good places.

Hula Hut is a good place to eat in Austin althought it can get loud and crowded. I too think that Rudy's would be better suited and more casual (no waiters involved). Just my 2 cents.

I'm not gonna say I can't go up there, but I have to go to work at some point too, so the farther north the earlier I have to leave, but there are three rudy's BBQ in the austin area, btw hula hut is like 5 minutes from my work, and the third rudy's is like 30seconds from where I work, how about we meet at the rudy's in North Austin at 11570 Research(183) Blvd......or just tell me to quit bitchin and I'll show up either place :rolleyes: is anyone showing up from houston or San Antonio/NB?

I only suggested round rock because some members wondered if i was going to make it. Its to late to ask off that day and I work out of round rock so it would be easier for me to meet you guys in round rock then anywhere else.

hey yall,
I know i'm not a member yet and all... but i was wondering if anyone was a blues (music) fan.. because in ausin there is a club called "antones" the jimmie vaughn's old band will be playing at it...so if any one wanted to go hang out after the metting... there is also a cheap uncrowded place to eat here in san marcos. its called grins and its cheap good food and never packed it also has room for lared parties even on the tree top deck.. and by the time we get there (i think)there is dollar fiffty margaritas... or a bar that is cheep across the street. any way just an idea...if there is any qustions about the locations or antones let me know.
ps there is a toga party going on at that bar later that night so beer and all will be cheap all day....wooo hoo san marcos... college life is good....

oh MAN - that sounds like fun... I've got plans with a local friend for after the meeting who probably won't be into that, though
