The CowTown Jeepers have extended an official offer for the SWXC to enter (and attend to watch) an official rock crawling event in Katemcy, TX. The classes will run from stock to fully modified. Go HERE to view the details.

They have said their site is just in the preliminaries for getting set up, so it may seem a bit sparse. In any event, the payout for those entering, and placing, is gonna be big.

You can also check THIS out for specific on Katemcy.

Yes, this is in September, but if you are interested in running (ie competeing) in the event, please contact me asap.

Edit: AC is gonna give out a $200 gift certificate and Shrockworks is giving out a $150 gift certificate or set of sliders (winners choice)

Thx,
s

I would love to compete but it already looks like I am overly modified....unless there is some way I could make the suspension drop pass as it is seen on pathfinders in Japan...or i could go in the second class where I will be poorly out classed..

Looks like I would fall into this class:

West Texas Offroad/Redneck Ram Stock Mod Class (non stock rock crawler class)
· Re-geared axles are allowed.
· Tires will be no bigger than 33 inch or 3 inches bigger then stock (what the sidewall says)
· Of the Tranny, transfercase, and engine at least 2 must be stock and un-modified.
· No more then 3” lift allowed.
· Must have at least 1 stock axle.
· This class is also for factory rock crawlers.
· Only 1 traction aided device permitted.

And that is only cuz of the 3" lift. I don't think I'd be able to hang with these guys. Still, I would like to go and check it out and run a few trails [Smoking]

I think it would be cool if some of us entered. If for nothing else, we would have Xterras in a rock crawling event. That would make for a cool showing.

I too want to go and watch, if nothing else. It is $5/day to watch, $10 to camp, $40 for camping and away-from-competition wheelin for the weekend.

Oh, I have also made an inquiry on if they can adjust the 'inches' for lifts. As X lifts come in 3" increments, I whined that we would be knocked up into a heavy-mod/red neck mod class for just having a suspension lift. Dunno though how rigid/flexible the rules are.

I think having a spoter you know, trust, and love is going to be just as important as a capable vehicle.. Scott find out if the course will be available to look at before the event..like some time before the event and are the courses the same for each class since it is a timed event?

The course will be laid (layed ?) out Friday before the run. NO PRERUNNING WILL BE ALLOWED. The event coordinators will run/walk the course for safety, but participants will not.

Also, unless we are 100% stock, we will not be running the stock rock crawler category. Stock is stock. There is very little flexibility in this class. Any of us who run the event will more than likely be in the Texas Off Road category. Don't worry though. The event coordinators have said this class is not as tough as it would seem. Now, the BaerTrax class is another story...

Scott, so competition is still dooable? I really don't mind dents and dings but I don't want to be the first US R50 to roll.

KIK will be held September 4, 2004.

Aero - No, you probably would not hold up against the Heeps, BUT, AC is donating a $200 gift certifiacate to the best placing X (no matter what the class). In any event, just getting X's out there to run would do our community a world of good.

That throws you into the next class up...west texas redneck, or something like that. If I entered, that's what I would have to run, being locked front and rear.

Jason you would be in the Baertrax class because of the dual lockers. The west texas class only allows one locker.

If we also want to wheel out of the competition is that included in the $100 for the competition?

Keith,

I sent ya the app, and it answers all of your questions. BUT (ooopps, started a sentence with a conjunction junction what's your dysfunction...) here are some answers for those without the app.

The app has the address on where to send your payment. By no strange coincidence, the guy lives in Keller.

How long do you have? Dunno, guess that depends on how many other people are asking the same thing. I would say two-three weeks, but don't rely on that.

Yes, your $100 includes wheelin' for the weekend (in and out of the event).
