Typically, keeping the top, primary post is best. Can you describe how it is coming apart or post a pic? Battery cables aren't that big of a deal at all, nor that expensive. The stock clamp is a two-piece design -- no fuse in it, those are elsewhere -- and even if you had to swap it out you could do it in a few minutes with a crescent wrench, if you had to. Does he mean you need a new battery? Can you post a pic? I'm not entirely sure of the issue here.
Shoot, the club run is in Big Bear this month, if it's something simple, buy the parts and we'll put it in then.
Also, as stated, the timing belt is to be done at 105K, along with a number of other items that are best replaced when everything in that area is opened up. Typically, gaskets, a bypass hose, water pump, etc. Not a cheap date, but best done by a reliable source.
