Anyone seen the commercial for this Mr Clean Autodry system? Looks intriguing but gotta wonder how god it really is. The filter system to remove minerals from the water seems like a good idea at least. Thoughts? any one order this yet? Mr Clean AutoDry system

Basically a mini reverse-osmosis water filter, same thing that creates the "spot free" rinse at your local self-serve car wash bay. It works great. I take my X through the touch-free wash at the gas station, then run down the street to the self-serve bay and spray it down with the spot-free rinse while it's still wet from the touch-free. Works like a charm. I use the remaining time on the clock (2-min minimum) to fill up my washer fluid reservior while I'm at it, helps keep my windows clear.

I have to admit that it looks somewhat "gimmicky"...I'd have to see it to believe it. But then again, if it works I'm sure it's worth it! (I end up spending ~$8 a wash even at the power washer)

Yeah I want to try that too the X has alot of ground to dry when you are using a towle and for some reason the water around here seems to spot really bad.

When I bought my house I had 'em install a whole home water softener. It's great and I have a seperate spigot/hose out front just for washing the truck. High pressure nozzle to knock off the mud and the soft water for no streaks or spots.(unfortunately the pinstripes don't wash out )I had to figure out the hardway though, the salt in the overspray/runoff water was killing some nearby plants though.

VtXing, I work for Procter & Gamble, the makers of Mr. Clean Auto Dry, and can personally say the product works great. The product can only be bought throught the web site or the 1-800 number currently but will be on store shelves in Feb or March. The retail value for the Auto Dry is currently $19.99. But if you think the price is a little high, wait till April 4 and there will be a $5.00 coupon in your Sunday newspaper. It will be nice not drying your X.

That was the original logo but in recent times they have choose to not use it anymore due to people pulling pictures out of it that I believe were racial. That is not actually the original logo but very close. It is difficult to fine the original logo with the hidden picture in it.

http://boat-supply.realemall.com/The-Absorber/Chamois-27-x-17-Blue.asp The Absorber!!!!! I've had one forever and its unbeliveable, it leaves no spots, but you do have dry the with it, not liek the Mr.Clean thing. You can get both at autozone or feaking Wal-Mart who has a better car care section than autozone and Discount Auto parts combined.

And I agree, Wal-Mart has a pretty good Auto section compared to all the regular auto parts stores.

I have 2 black cars and use the Mr. Clean autodry. It does work, but it does take more time than you would expect. The water has to travel through the filter to soften the water thus emitting a fine mist to rinse.

Tried this out this weekend, and works really well. Windows even dried clear, which was a big surprise. Don't think I'll use the gun for normal washing though, a bucket and regular nozzle works better IMO, but the spot free rinse is great.

I use it on my bike, but it takes waaaaaay too long for the X...I think on a good Saturday night I have more hose pressure than that thing... In summation, yea, it works...

I have the Auto Dry setup and it works fairly well. It would probably work better if the water here in San Diego wasn't so hard. Some observations: Make sure you don't leave it in direct sunlight during the middle of the day or it tends to leave a haze. I park mine in my carport after washing. The filter lasts only about 4 washes and costs $6. If you don't replace it when the little window starts turning brown it doesn't work at stopping the spots. I haven't tried any other car soap, other than the soap made for it yet to see if it works as well or better. I'm almost out so I'll try something else. I still have to do some drying, especially the windows, after about 30-45 minutes but it only takes about a minute or two around trim pieces, mirrors, etc. I have noticed that after I drive I find some spots around the mirrors just like at the regular car wash. I like it. It beats waiting in line at the local self serv wash.

This is good unless you live in an apartment complex. I'm tempted to buy one but after realizing that I would need a 200 foot hose, I'm sticking to a coin operated car wash.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the spot free rinses in self serve carwashes around here, seem to be anything but spot free. That was one of the main reasons I was really skeptical of this product. Didn't think the concept worked... but was really surprised to come out an hour later and see the truck all nice and waterspot free.
