Everytime I wash my X after im done and im drying it off it has these shinny streak's all over it and if you spray water on it to try and get it off as soon as you take a towel or anything else to it it just smears in the drirection you go. I own a black X and its it very annoying because it shows so bad. I have waxed the thing a few times but the streaks are all still there. They dont seem to come off with water or anything else they only smear. What is this and what can I do to take it off? Any help would be appriciated.

What kind of soap are you using? I have found if you use dishsoap that vehicles paint will look like it has smears on it. If that is what your using switch to a soap dedicated for washing vehicles. Meguiar's makes excellent products.

How are you drying the paint? Using towels? Have the towels been washed/dried using a fabric softener? A no-no for drying paint.
As noted, use a quality car wash soap.
After drying, try some detailing spray such as Meguiars Final Inspection.

Dry your truck with 100% cotton USA towels. Make sure they are made in USA or they might not be 100% cotton.

Not only that, but check the stiching on the towles...

I picked up some 100% cotton towles and I didn't notice they had synthetic thread for the stiching that ended up leaving little scratches mad

The *whole* towl needs to be 100% cotton....

On the subject of dishwashing liquids - mentioned by defibvt - I've read most are very harsh and will, at the least, remove wax. Only one supposedly mild enough to use for carwashing applications is Ivory.

I try to play it safe & use the carwashing concentrate put out by ArmorAll .. just haven't yet tried the stuff put out by Meguiar's but have no doubt it's as good as or better than the ArmorAll.

HTH :-)

JohnA is correct. They remove all wax. I only use it twice a year when I am stripping off all the wax and doing the 3 step process.

Dont use a towel to dry the Xterra, for waxing, use one like others have recommended above.

If you want the best, fastest dry use an Absorber. Its a synthetic chamois and you can get it at any auto parts store. I have 3 of them at home and they work really well, are washable and extremely durable. They are 9 or 10 bucks and come in cute colors like pink laugh

Definately use a chamois - real or fake - to dry the truck.

Another thing to watch out for on the terry towels are the little labels - rip them off!
