The "bowl swirl" is caused by the rotation of the earth, not the magnetic field. Magnatism has no effect on noniron things like water. The article said nothing about the earths rotation changing.

We all know that PotatoEs do NOT generate a sufficent magnetic field to cause the collapse of our own. I held a compass right next to a sack of potatoEs and the needle didn't move a bit. But we all know that PotatoEs have a strong GRAVITATIONAL field and are only slightly less strong than black holes. PotatoEs should be avoided at all costs.

The drive didn't help me figure out if the magnetic field is Dem or Repub... Plus, the drive renewed my curiosity about the political affiliation of my 350Z.

Actually us "Environmental Whackos" have know about this for years. Many scientists believe the Earth's magnetic field has flipped many times in the past. It will probably happen again but the human race will have destroyed itself by then.

All the neo-conservatives were too busy trying to explain why god moves the magnetic poles, the rest of us decided to find out the scientific reason.

It's called the Coriolis Effect. It causes the rotation of high and low pressure areas in the atmosphere as well.
