Like most of you, I spend time reading different post posted by different people. Now from what I have read, I see that you all belittle anything one tries to do with their 2wd Xterra. If they lower it and put big rims on them, you all quickly jump and say that the Xterra was made for offroading and such junk. Yet if they put bigger tires and lift kits, you tell them to quit trying to act as if they have 4x4's. So my question to you all is, what is "ok" with you all to do to our 4x2 Xterra's? Oh, and one last thing. Yes I have a 4x2 Xterra. I wanted a 4x4, but insurance was way to high(I'm only 18 and since I'm not paying for it, I had no other choice).

I's your truck. Why should you care what some of these twits say? I have an issue with someone that lifts and modifies a 4x2 to look like a 4x4, but that's me. I think it is a total waste of money. If you want to make your 4x2 into a bling bling machine, go for it. Better you do it to a 4x2 than a 4x4. Make the truck yours. Have it match your personality.

Regardless of what you do to your truck, just remember that a modification done well will gain more respect from others than something done half-assed and cheaply.
There have been some trucks that have been lowered and built up nicely and they look pretty good IMO. However, their have been some pretty crappy looking vehicles too.

What kind of insurance company you using? 8) From my experience so far insurance on 4x4 was actually less than on 4x2 (as in about 200$ off))
anyway - who cares what someone else thinks - what is important is how you feel about it yourself. 4x2 have they right for existance in this brutal world 8)
With all that said - i totally couldnt understand lowering of trucks - meaning of it eludes me and look of it hurts my eyes 8)

I can not stand Ricers. Yet I have to respect some of the work that they have put into their cars. Do with your Xterra what you want, If you show it off here you are most likely looking for personal opionion and you will get them. Buttom line is, are you happy with what you drive?. If so why even bother asking...

Dude, I'm sure you're getting tired of hearing this, but it doesn't matter what some of these idiots think. I don't have 4WD either, but I LOVE my X. That's why you bought it, right? I'm sure this won't be the last vehicle you'll ever buy either. Save the money and get one next time.

I'm with ELFTERRA...I got a 4x2 myself, cause THAT'S WHAT I WANTED ....I actually laugh at these nitwits myself...I love where my X takes me....on pavement and off-road..., I bought it to carry my Sports Stuff and Bikes to the trails, not to see what boulder or rocks can fuck up my daily ride or see what mud lakes can fuck up my exterior, interior and engine...even if I had a 4x4 X , I wouldn't do that, (If I did I would get me a old beat up 4x4)...It just more expenses to the wallet to beat up my X like that...I'm still paying for it...I'm not a rich kid...so having said that...just enjoy your X, man...you don't know these guys, here...spend, and do whatever you want with your X....

Thanks for all your replies. I don't think I would lower my X for the simple reason that I take a lot of "back roads" here to avoid traffic, but then again I wouldn't mind a tuffer look for my X. Down here like all other places it gets real dark out in the middle of nowhere. I would like to put maybe some offroad lights and maybe some A/T on it. What do you all think?

Not that anyone really cares, but FWIW...
I used to have a S-15 Jimmy, 2WD. I had a 6" lift and 32's on it. The truck was my sister's and became mine when she went to college, so I didn't have a say in getting a 4WD. I tried to make the best of what I had. I think lifted trucks look cool, 4WD or not.

To me, offroaders are such lame-asses. What a boring, stupid thing to do. Just constantly wrecking and breaking shit on your Xterra. Yay, how fun!

Actually if you do it responsibly, you will go a long time without damaging your rig. I have more on road damage on both my trucks than offroad (door dings, paint chips, rearended.....) What's so lame about being able to get to places that most people can't i.e. good hunting grounds, secluded camping spots etc. and have fun while doing it????

Of all people to say such a thing...I remember the days when you ragged out the "bat-mobile" (a black Z-28) peeling out around every turn, tearing up the field next to my house...Bob, I don't think you're one to talk about tearing shit up. Oh, and I won't even mention the days of your Civic Type R!
