For the dozen+ trucks that participated the trails in the Lake Arrowhead to Big Bear area such as Willow Creek & Rouse Ranch stated out moderate with some rutted, loose, mogul, type hills descents and climbs and gradually become more difficult/steeper with ditches and rocks mixed in. Everyone including some 1st timers with stock vehicles did really well even on the most difficult sections near the end of the Rouse Ranch.

Keeping along with the theme and doing some geo-caching along the way we continued on to some rougher trails such as Dishpan Springs and Holcomb Creek that feature some up-hill rock gardens, waterfall/wall like climbs, big mogul dug out section, plenty of off-camber stuff, ditches, etc. As we pushed it to the limit at times to make it between some rocks & hard places :-)

did you guys disconnect your sway bars for some of those climbing pics?
i've gone wheeling before but not much rock crawling, so i've never really flexed it.

UZ,

Yeah pixs don't really do that section (devils slide) of the trail justice wink it's a narrow steep off-camber uphill really dug out at the bottom with rocks followed by the waterfall then some more rocks and ditches with sandy/powdery loose terrain. Too many wheelers roll on this section by standing their rigs up on the waterfall and either torque steer too much, accelerate, or get crossed up causing them to slide a bit too much and flop over [Freak]

CV,

Yeah what happen to you? Thought you we're going to attend, but there is always next month smile

Most of the regulars like me have their rear sway bar permanently removed and some of us run quick front disconnects. I don't disconnect mine for this run and I don't recall anybody else that did either.

Brian,
Totally awesomes pics!
But you ever notice it when the driver is not behind the wheel? To me that says "Not a very tough spot if he had time to dismount".
My .02. Sweet pics as usual.

sand down here is so much more forgiving, you would have to campout and wait for me to get through that. don't get to the rocks very much is all.

That was definately a fun trip!!!!!! Devil's Slide and Holcomb Creek were awsome trails!!!!! We need to do John Bull next time. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. See ya soon!!!!!

Jason

By the way bn,
The driver is behind the wheel in all of those shots but the third one. I took the ones of xtoolbox and he took the ones of me.

UUUUMMMMMMMMM.........no. laugh There are a lot of trails that we do that are 4X2 friendly though. Check us out at www.sccxterra.com. There is a trail near you (Berdoo Canyon) that I will be hitting up as soon as the weather cools.

I will gladly trade you dano. I am originally from Parsippany, NJ. I would give anything to move back. I would miss the great people in SCCX and the awsome wheeling out here, but the people in general are.......well I can't think of anything nice to say. I will leave it at that.

Cool, didn't know you were originally from up here!

I feel the same way about this place unfortunatly. Too crowded, too dirty, too much traffic, nobody cares about those points (yeah I know CA has that crap too, but within a 60 mile radius of up here, you can't remotely escape that), and to go anywhere scenic, its at least a 2 hour drive (3 with traffic.) Even when you hit the end of that radius, it's stil considered a "New York Suburb." The sprawl never ends. Even to do some wheeling its almost ironic that NJAX has to *leave* Jersey in order to legally wheel wink

Luckily with work, I can transfer anywhere in all 50 pending open positions, which are plentiful at the moment. Options are plentiful. Decisions!

Have you ever been here? The beaches are filthy. Anyway, I used to wheel a lot up in the Splitrock area. It was legal then. I don't even know what is there now. Probably houses.
