Last weekend i took a little trip over to yosemite... Had a lot of fun, was able to get into a very nice, first come first serve, camp site. I used the X tent and was very pleased, the only problem was that i wasnt on flat ground and kept rolling to one side [Freak] .

Here is the camp site...

Here is famous Half Dome...

Here is My X and Half Dome...

It was a great trip!

Looks like a fun time. Someday I'll make it out there.

My wife and I sleep in the truck all the time. It drives my wife nuts, cause I will drive back and forth all over the campsite to find the perfect area of levelness. Other than that, the X sleeps great, even for my 6'3" 200lb self.

Sequoia national park Is a great park, you should have a lot of fun there...

I just cant get enough of yosemite. Besides alaska, it is the most amazing place...

Cant speak for others, but i use a double size air mattress. Works great, until you get the roll effect.

Oh yeah - full size, multi-chamber mattress from Target. With the front seats all the way forward it fits perfectly.

Did you know that the dark hole just to the right of where that woman is standing with her hands on her hips... is a mini-cave. It takes you to this ledge on the other side of the drop.

It looks like this inside:

Here is the ledge and valley floor 5000 ft down:

Wow, man, nice pics. I'm deathly afraid of heights, and those pics gave me a nice ball-clenching, palm-sweating thrill. Wooha!
Just be glad I wasn't there. I'd be wrapped around one of those poles, cursing and covered in sweat. You'd have to call my Mom to come talk me down.

Oh yeah, I'm a badass...

I still havent done that hike... I dont know why...

i have done misty trails to the top twice... all the way up past nevada falls... its the same level as half dome and its a five mile hike over..

next time i am up there i need to do that hike... those pics just made it look a lot cooler than i thought it was.

I think rrdstarr did a BASE jump off that before.

Definetly not legal.

And I want to do it again this year

Consider doing Mt. Whitney (14,462 feet) or Mt. Shasta (14,200 feet) instead. You *could* do day hikes, but it'd have to be a 17-18 hour day.

Whitney is actually quite easy since you start at 8000 feet and it's not that satisfying because the summit itself is only a peak along a ridge of mountains. No fun.

Shasta, on the other hand is a mother of a hike/climb. You start at 6,000 feet and you are trudging up this neverending hill for what seems like forever. Only 20% of people make it and someone manages to die each year, so it makes summitting VERY satisfying!

You can also do a combined wheeling/climbing trip on the NorthEast side, but that glacier is pretty challenging with lots of hidden crevasses and a very very steep ice headwall at the top. But it's definitely doable.

We did a two day'er and snowboarded down, making it much more relaxing. If you can handle the altitude, it's quite breathtaking. Otherwise, you'll be throwing up and passing out. smile

It was the other side of the valley on El Capitan. IT was definitely a rush! We did a couple of bridges on Hwy 1 too that summer in Kalifornia.
