Was the Xpress ride at CALX3 to Oceano dunes & the Los Padres NF. Photos from Molten Lava, Oregon Brian, and Me.

Look for more pics & video from CALX3 soon from a cool bunch of ~ 25 trucks > 50 people who participated

Why would you want to drive through good drinking water like that? [Freak]
I had to work, and even though I probably wouldn't jump my truck, I sure wish I had been there to watch the rest of you do it. laugh

I'm glad Ian's poor choice of Xterra of the week photo has inspired more reckless driving in the Xterra community. Good Job!!!!

Glad everybody is enjoying the pictures smile and what people do which their trucks is their choice.

I wouldn’t characterize sand jumping as reckless or recommend anybody do it, but motos, ATV's, trucks, and sand buggies all visit these kinds of wide open areas and many of them do the same thing. We where very careful and had people watching and communications to everyone on the radios and the sand makes for soft landings wink

BTW IAN’s pictures had nothing to do with it and nobody received any damage, if you want to whine about reckless driving or all your safe driving practices please post another topic about all the mud stink holes everybody seems to like to drive through :p

Question! In Georgia I'm not running into much sand just that good old Georgia Red Clay Mud. Anyway, does the sand get into your guys (and gals) engine? If so is it easy to clean like our mud or does it get into areas that are a pain in the ass to clean out?

No, its Michael (twitch). also you can go to my site and see the Refried Chicken Video I created for the weekend. You can see video of all the jumping hill climbing and the like.

The sand was easier to remove than the mud I have had on there.

Ark,

The Toolbox is in the third photo (the one with the ARB and the GONEmoab sticker) Yeah some of pic’s had the contrast setting turned up a bit too much or something like that?

YellowX,

Sand does get in the engine bay a bit and can collection in places but it’s not that difficult to remove. I normally use a air gun and damp rag to clean things up.

He just hasn't found a way to get it rolled up again smile

Poor LavaX accidently backed into a tree limb that left a couple marks on the back hatch and blew the glass out.

Ouch! frown

Sorry Salsa (while I insert the heel of my foot into my mouth), I get the two trucks confused sometimes.

It's good news that you had it fixed so quickly.

It looks like a nicely controlled environment to me [Too much XOC] ... much safer than the 'riceboys' racing their little Hondas & Acuras up & down the streets.

Reckless driving, much safer than many people who drive around with a stero blasting, holding a cell phone, cigarette, burger, driving with their kness on the highway.

Yes those of us who have done this risk damaging our trucks, but as stated before, splashing through a mudhole/puddle in the maountains can cause much more damage than playing on sand.

If you want the absolute safety, keep your truck in a garage, never take it out.

If well planned and executed, the event can be very safe. If your so concerned about safety, don't visit places like Colorado, or Utah and go 4 wheeling, you could get hurt. I will continue to push myself and my truck, but I will only place myself in risk, not others.

Peace.
