I went to Silver Lake Dunes this past weekend. Very cool. Didn't see a single Xterra out there though. frown

Made it over "Test Hill". If you can make it over this one huge dune, you can make it over the rest of the dunes in the park.

A delicate balance between speed and momentum. Too fast over the peak, and you'll launch yourself into oblivion. Too slow, and you'll do this.

I had to crawl out the passenger side window. And I'm not that fat, the wind was blowing behind me.

On the beach area of Lake Michigan.

Beach Dunes.

More pics are avaialble on my website.

What happened? I leave town and you can't stop eating because you miss me so much? Or is it because of the wife's new-found culinary talents? Or is it because it's always raining and you can't ride your bike? Or do Nikon cameras actually add 20 pounds instead of 10? Or is it because you've been drinkin' all the beer you made over the winter?

Just shittin' ya man. Great pics, and I'm glad you finally got a chance to take it off road.

Flags or not, I wouldn't be too inclined go cresting a dune like that without a spotter at the top to direct traffic. Looks like fun though.

The large dunes are one way traffic only, the small ones, well, you just have to pay attention. You can see the flags well. If you look in the background of my first pic, you can see a red sign. They are huge, and they say "One Way Traffic" or "Wrong Way!" I wasn't worried about it. As long as you hang the rear of your vehicle off a bit, you're okay.

It's a flag, not an antenna. And yeah, it looks like they bred over the course of the pics. [Spit]
