Has anybody gone out and had zerk's put on their Calmini A-Arms yet? I want to snuff out the squeak problems before they go in. Two of our members in the club have had them placed on their a-arms, both in different places. One went in on an angle through the weld on the a-arm, the others were placed pretty much square down the center.

Just looking for anyone else who has had this done and any feedback as to possibly compromising the strength of the arms by doing this.

Dano.
Steiny and Damian had zerks drilled and welded into their Calmini A-arms. Both of them posted pix online of the install that OK4WD did for them.
As for comprimising the structural intergrity, SLR offers Zerks as an option for $15 each installed, drilled and tapped in.

I had my lift on for about 5-6 months before they started making noise becasue i got a lot of mud and water around them. This is what worked for me either use a degreaser or simple green and clean around them with a tooth brush or some other type of scrubber. Then spray them with a product called Tri Flow. works good for about another 3-4 months and is a lot less of a hassle than takin things apart and regreasing.

I just used a really good marine grade grease and spray them every now and then with PB (penetrating oil).

They allow you to grease the part that is sqeaking without having to take it all apart, hopefully getting rid of the squeak.

I've been using Tri-Flo too only I don't bother cleaning first (I would if they were caked in mud). I just saturate the bushings with it every time I switch tires. It's been 4 months since I did it last time and still not a peep from them even through Seattle rain and everything. I carry the Tri-Flo with me so I can shoot them if I need to. If I have to remove the UCA's for some other reason later then I might put zerks in, but right now all is well.

These should go in here then:

In the last pic you can see the hole in the sleeve too. After they were installed, I hooked up the grease gun and watched the grease come out the sides smile

Why are people drilling through the sleeve (I think Steinism did too) ?

The sleeve and the bolt never move in relation to one another. The bushing is what moves in relation to the sleeve.

I spoke with one of Calmini's sales men at the vender show during goneMOAB and he said that they will soon be shipping the a-arms with new blue bushings that are impregnated with lubricant like the ones they make for Isuzu.

He also stated that they will ship the new bushings to everyone that had bought the arms before the new bushings. He had no idea when though.
