Its unusual to need THAT much weight on that tire....especially all in a row.
Right, TJ. Tires come with a mark on the sidewall that should be lined up with the valve stem on the wheel, thus aligning the heavy part of the wheel with the lighter part of the tire-requiring much less weight to balance them. One note, though-wheel weights should ALWYS be next to each other. If you get tires balanced and there is a weight at 12:00 and another at 2:00, you need to go elsewhere to balance them-either the machine is out of whack, or (more likely) the technician is new or unaccustomed to dealing with larger tires. Steel wheels usually require more weight to balance than aluminum. Always get a dual-plane balance (weights on both the inside and outside of the rim). Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for their input.
MMNIAC....thanks for that hookup to Summit. They're back ordered on 3 of them for another 10 days but I went ahead and bought them anyways. 15x8 5" BS should be perfect.
Total shipped to my door.....$157.75......how ya gonna beat that?

I just recently got cragar soft 8's 15x8 with 4.75 backspacing
The tires are BFG A/T 32x11.5x15
PML only and no mud flaps, with shrock bumper and NO RUBBING I think any smaller than 4.75 and theyd rub...
The wheels were easy to find once i realized they did make a 4.75 backspacing in the cragars I called jegs and asked if they could get them the lady was the best! Got me five to my door in 3 days direct from their distrib.
I'll post some pics tomm havent gotten around to taking any yet are you the one who emailed me?

Yeah I was the one that emailed you. I found afterwards that I could get those wheels in 5" BS and went ahead and ordered from Summit Racing. I'd love to see pics though when you get a chance.

MMNIAC Do you have anymore pics of your rig? This is the same rims im looking to get and put on 34's, but I have the 2in. body lift and that might clear the bigger tires and I wouldnt have to trim as much metal as you did. Great looking truck

Exactly what I've been looking for Mark, a Black X with those wheels on it. Nice to know with a PML I can go with 32's. The wheels are on order but I havent decided on tire yet. Think I might go with the 32's, they look great on your X. Nice rig broham Thanks for the pics.

does anyone have pics or personal thoughts of the 17" black soft 8s? I have the stock 17" rims, here's the deal with that.....the tires are MUCH more expensive, the same tires (BFG AT's) for my 15" x 10.5" rims $500 The tires for the 17"'s over $800

There's people running 32's at stock height with trimming (Removal of all the well plastic).
If a tire is going to hit on compression, a SL (PML, 3", etc...) won't really help....as it stuffs up the same with or without the SL...its really just the ride height that has more room.
The BL is what you need to give uptravel...but really not 'til you go for 33's or larger.
The BS situ is such that the tires stick out more, with les BS...so they hit the fenders on the way up.
If you get a wider rim, it increases where the tire sticks out if the BS remains constant, or sticks out even more if the BS is reduced, etc.
The tricky part is that the IFS and the live axle have totally different arcs they swing through, plus the IFS end's steering functions...so what works up front screws you up out back, and visa versa.
You can get away with less BS out back most of the time...but upfront its more likely to bite you.

The 00-01 and 02-04's have the same metal in the wells, but there is more plastic in the way on the 00-01's...so more (easy) trimming to make them fit. Cranking to clear tires is a waste if you off road, as they will hit on compression as if there was no crank job anyway...... Just cut off the plastic where it hits...or suck it up and let it "Self Clearance". Or get a bL and be done w/it.

PML along with a 2" BL should be sufficient enough to clear 32's w/out trimming on an 04 wouldn't it?

Everyone says the 15x8 5" BS will work. I ordered mine from Summitt and they're backordered til the 25th. I called Jegs and they don't have the 5" BS at all.
