Can you give us the details of how it broke and what exactly you were doing when it did (both times).
I've heard of the Nissan Hardbody trucks having this issue, but yours is the first I've heard on an X.

Well I dont really know how I did it I am assuming I did it on some rocks while wheeling. The damage the first time crushed them flat. They got bent again the second time it happened but not completly flat. The guy fixing it told me he had straightened it out but when he was putting he bolts in it started flexing. The mounts have also started cracking. I didnt even notice the first time till i took it into the dealer to have my sway bar fixed because one bolt had broken off.

The bottom of my sway-bar mount is smashed flat on the drivers side. I did it while driving up a rocky hill entirely too fast.
Although the sway bar is a bit "tweaked", it doesn't seem to be rubbing anything so I haven't done anything about it.

Yes, I actually drove home about 90 miles one night without the sway bar due to a damaged end link I couldn't get back on. I will never do it again. I have SLR 300M Torsion bars and Bilstien shocks, and without the sway bar, the Xterra rolls severly just turning the wheel side to side on the street. I could easily flip it on its side if I wanted. If you think its ok without a sway bar, why do you think Nissan put one on it (and on every other IFS vehicle ever manufactured by any company) ? Are you really smarter than every automobile manufacturer in the world ?

It seems to me that you are being biased Ian. In Hardcore 4wd forum, ClimberRn talked about his new steering set up. In the very first post it states that he is running without both sway bars. No one tore him apart for that statement. Not one person called him dangerous, stupid, careless, reckless, or an idiot. However, DesertRAT makes a similar statement and gets attacked. Can you please clarify why you didn't rip Joel apart for basically the same statement??

I've been browsing the board for a week or so watching the conversations that take place. I had pretty much decided that I would not post here because of all the lashing out that goes on. If I wanted to be part of that type of BB, I would register on POR.
I'm asking a fair question. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just wondering why the different treatment.

At least Ian claims he's "the nicest ass you'll ever meet". You guys are gonna let one guy on a message board affect you like that? Christ...have a beer or a sippy cup and relax a little bit. When it comes to telling people it's okay to remove parts of a vehicle that can keep it from rolling over on the road, we don't need to advertise crap like that. I completely agree here. I think it's stupid to remove it for onroad driving, but you go ahead - we'll read about you in the papers when your truck flips causing a bigrig full of chickens to spill on the interstate, and you try to sue Nissan but it's thrown out of court because you took off the very piece that helps avoid a rollover. Wear your seatbelt on your way out.

I'm still wondering why no one has said anything to Joel. He works in the medical field, so I'm sure he knows first hand what can happen in vehicle accidents. I wonder why he would put himself and his wife in so much danger by driving his X without swaybars.
Ian, I'm not sure what 99% of the people actually amounts to, but from what I have seen in my short observations here is that if someone has a different opinion, instead of just stating their opinion, they also attack the other person.
I recently moved to Arizona from Colorado and purchased my X. I thought that since this board was ran by someone in Colorado, that it would not only provide intelligent information but also be a friendly place for someone to learn from. I like to gather opinions and experiences from people and then decide myself what I would like to do. It's my choice what I decide to do and I don't think that you allow people that choice with degrading them first.
I haven't completely decided whether or not I'll continue to peruse the threads here or not. But, I won't take part in attacking people for their opinions, experiences or beliefs. That's why I live in the USA.

Have you ever seen a medical doctor who smokes? I have. Just because you know better does not mean that you do not do something stupid.
