I have 2000 4x4 XE with BFG Radial Long Trail (P265/70-R15) with 55000 miles?

Any suggestions for new tires? I am thinking
that since I have a full size spare, I can use it
and have to buy only 3 new tires.
I can use one of the existing tires as spare.
Is it a good idea?

Do a search and you'll find literally tons of tire info. But basically if you want to use your spare as a full time tire (I assume to save money) you need to buy three more long trails, becuase you shouldn't run with unmatched tires, especially on the same axle. If I were you I'd just pay for a 4th tire so you can get something decent - the long trails suck. Go to tirerack and do some searching. There are tons of user reviews for each tire type. Start w/ Bridgestone Revos or BFG AT/KOs and go from there.

Sure, it's pretty common to save the best of the old tires as the spare. I'd be sure it has at least 1/4" of tread depth though, otherwise it's starting to get marginal. Yeah, you could use a bald tire as a spare if you just want something that will just serve long enough to get a new tire on, but that's not wise or safe if conditions are anything but optimal.
Obviously you'll have to go with 3 new Long Trails for the new tires and therefore you can't upgrade to a better-performing type/brand.

Finally, I went for Dueller DLT. It seems
that DLT is only available at Sears. It has
UNI-T AQ technology.
I can't wait to see how it performs in rains/snow.
My old BFG long trail were terrible in slight snow
or icy conditions.
Has anyone tried Dueller DLT?
Thanks for all suggestions
