Ok I saw these tires on vaderx's X and thought they looked great. But r they good all around tires? For moderate off roading and pavement driving. Do you have to buy a set of rims with them or do they fit on stock 2001 rims? And where can you find the best deal on a set + spare?
Any help would be great.

The TrXus are really nice tires. Those who have them really love them. I'm not sure about their all around performance. How often do you plan to go off road and what kind of terrain are you going to be in? Please remember that this tire is designed for off road first, pavement second. Will they suck on pavement? I'm sure they will fare better than the rest of the Super Swamspers due to their mutliple siping.

As for pricing, the tires are quoted at $106 for a 31x10.50x15. It's more expensive for 16" tires. You don't have to order a new set of rims. It's preferable to use the stock ones because it's the correct offset for the Xterra. You can order them online at Tyres International or at 4 Wheel Parts . You might want to see if you can get them locally. There is an offroad shop in Spring off of 1960 called Texas Off Road Performance. There # is 281-651-8677. See if they carry the tires.

Hope this helps. I was really considering getting those tires but I have credit through Discount Tire and I couldn't afford to pony up $500+ cash all at one time.

Well I have had these tires for a few months now and I can say that I am extremely happy with them. They do make noise on the road but it is not excessive. They have performed just fine on pavement without excessive wear. Off road they are great tons and tons of traction. They have basically ruined some of spots that I used to wheel in they have just become too easy.

I wrote up a review and sent it to ian but I think he needs more pictures before he can post it. The problem is that I do not have a digital camera so it takes me forever to get my pictures done. If any of you have decent pics of them forward them to me or ian. A comparison in size with the bfg a/t would be great.

I tell ya, those damn things look cool as hell. They are on my next to buy list. I'd have them now, but I already shot my XTerra budget for the month on the sub and Wet Okoles. smile So many toys, so little cash.

I like the looks of the tire and from what I have read they are great for offroad, however don't they have a 2-ply sidewall. If I am correct that is what would make me nervous about them. Please correct me if I am wrong. smile

The TrXus is a 2 ply sidewall. The 6 ply rating refers to the plys beneathe the tread. In fact the 16" models are 8 and 10 plys. Tee 2 ply sidewall of the TrXus is supposed to be thicker than that of the BFG MT and AT

All in all, Swampers are considered a pretty damn tough tire.

Also, for the opriginal poster, there is a huge TrXus thread here:
http://www.xterraownersclub.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=37&t=000162

Please read over it as it answers all of your questions and more.

Discount tire can order them for you but you will generally be overcharged by them. you should just order them online and get them mounted locally. I paid 560 for mine mounted by ordering them through an offroad shop.

No kidding....I wanted to get a set of Yokohama Geolandar M/Ts and Discount wanted $136 a tire for 31x10.5. It's kind of messed up since I can order them for $106 a tire through their website. Your best bet would be to order them online that way you won't have to pay tax.

YES. They are siped and perform well on pavement. This is one of the reasons this tire is soo well liked by the avid off road enthusiast.

I've had these tires since April and I love them. IMO, they perform better than the stock Long Trails on wet roads. 98% of my driving is done on city streets and I gave many tires a consideration before deciding on the TrXus M/T's. They offered the right balance of on and off road features that I wanted, namely the factory siping. To some it my not be an issue, but where I live, we get all kinds of freaky weather and the added siping features give me a little peace of mind if nothing else.

These tires look great, but I have one question. I know that I will have to trim the mud flap area, but would the torsion bar have to be adjusted for them to fit? The tire size would be 31x10.5x15.

Hi gang, just thought I would chime in here and say that Trxus kick a$$. I have no complaints at all about them. These things simply eat mud! Another thing is is the big channel in the center helps keep them clean.

Kinda funny story, I was coming back on the street after I had been wheelin'. This guy in a Lexus es something or another zipps right up behind me. Mind you I wasn't up to speed yet. The faster I went the further away from me this guy got. Oop's sorry dude.

There you have it! Trxus MT's are an effective tool in the fight against tailgaters! Go ahead, get you some you won't regret it in the morning! laugh

I can say that these tire really dig in good. I do not have them but I followed imascae on our last X'Cursion and have never seen so much rock and dirt getting kicked up tires. I will be ordering my set when I get done for paying for all the cars I crash.

I was just wondering if I had to adjust anything to fit the 31x15 trxus, like the torsions or anything like that?

You just have to trim the inner side of the front mud flaps. I know I have seen some pictures of the area in previous posts and aquamander sent me a pic also. I can e-mail it to you if you want.
