Ok, it seems that one of the most frequently asked questions on this part of the list goes something like this "I have a (fill in year) X and want to go to a bigger tire. Will a (fill in tire size) fit? What mods will be required?" Has someone put together a table that shows year of mfg, stock tire size, upgrade tire size, and consensus suggested/recommended mods needed for that upgrade in size? It could go with the other standard tire stuff at the beginning of this part of the forum along with the Tire Rack info.
Something like this:

Year Stock size Upgrade size mods
01XE 265 75 R15 31-10.5-15 trim plastic

Is there such a thing a a consensug with this group?

Thanks for the concise reply, Gabe. I would not have opened that sticky as 1)the title is less than descriptive and 2) I guess I'm a lazy ass. I am a bit disappointed, however as, although the sticky is quite helpful, I was hoping to get away with putting a set of 15" 32s on my 02 XE without having to do much more than a little trimming. Seems I recall one of the more apparently knowledgable sounding members saying that 32s would fit without too much effore.

Yeah - 32's on an '01 requires a lot of trimming...but its just trimming...so its just not a big deal when you get right down to it...several people I wheel with have 32's on otherwise stock rigs with nothing but trimming...its just plastic in the way....you cut off where it hits, and you're done.....you are pretty much getting rid of plastic in your front wheel wells...so it doesn't even really show.

For 31's...a tiny slice of mud flap ledge is all you need..for 32's, they stick out 1/2" more than 31's...so you continue to get that plastic too.

Interesting thing is, at times it seems to vary from truck to truck. Last time I wheeled with a guy who had an '01 with 32 inch BFG ATs with torsion bar crank and he was fine.

I have an 02 with a torsion bar crank and shackles and with everything trimmed I still rub the inside of the wheel well on compression. The only resolution that would work for me now is to completely remove the plastic behind the well.

The main reason some rub and some don't is the backspacing on the rims...for example...if you use the 5.25" BS stock rims...33x12.5's can stuff...if you use typical 3" BS aftermarket rims...31's can rub.

The less backspacing, the more rub on compression.

Thanks Tj and 02. Problem is the 01 is dead and I'm driving an 02 now. How much trimming will be required for 32s on an 02? The 31s when on the 01 were just fine but now don't seem to do the trick, clearance-wise for the 02. They are the same diameter as the 16" stock Grabbers. I bought 5 stock Xterra plain jane spare tire steelies and mounted the 31s on them for the 01 but when it went to the great mudhole in the sky, I hung on to them and they fit on the 02 [ThumbsUp] Problem is that I think 32s would work/look so much better on the 02. And there are so many more choices in 15".
Anyway  your comments are welcome.

On stock wheels I ran 32s with some trimming on the plastic.
