I have an 03 SC SE with a stock subwoofer system. My Question is what is the Ohms on it- I can't locate this info either on the speaker or the search function on this forum. I attempted to install my new JL 8 in Sub but I blew the amp fuse. My JL's are 4 ohms. I additionally combined the four wires on the stock sub [two hookups on either side] and connected to the new sub with only one location [two positives connected and two negative wires connected together. Is that correct?

I wonder if a multi-meter would read the resistance correctly (on the sub). Since you've checked the sub, do you have any part numbers on it worth googling?

Does the JL sub have dual voice coils? Each voice coil is 4 ohms. Since you hooked them up in parallel, the total impedance is 2 ohms to the amp. You have to hook the two voice coils in series. Amp pos to vc1 pos, vc1 neg to vc2 pos, vc2 neg to amp neg. That will give you 8 ohms to the amp.

correct me if I'am wrong, but each voice coil has it's own connection, right? If so, then the factory RF sub has two [connections] and the JL has one [1 connection]

Ah, sorry. I though your JL was DVC and your amp was mono. Since you have 2 channels out from your amp, you can only hookup one pair of wires to the JL sub. Hooking both positives to the JL positive post and both negatives to the JL negative post will definitely blow the fuse.

A better way would be to bridge the two sub channels on the amp and then hook it up to the JL but I'm not sure if the factory amp is capable of that. Anyone know?

Actually wire positive on one voice coil to the positive on the other voice coil, do the exact same with the negative. Now run a set of speaker wires from either of the voice coils to the amp and bridge both of those channels.

If the sub does only have one voice coil then just bridge the ampp and call it a day!
