I routed the antenna wire through the hinge, under the weatherstrip and under the trim panel just inside the top of the hatch. Then, I just pushed the antenna wire in above all of the side window and door strips along the roof panel, down the front windshield pillar and under the dash on the driver's side.
Exact same install here, except I centered the antenna on the rear of the roof.

I also found that a very dull butterknife was a good tool to tuck the wire between the headliner and the door / window trim. You might have to temporarily remove the plastic housings from the connectors to get the wire under the weatherstrip at the hatch.

Be sure not to mix up the 2 connectors.

It is a very easy install once you start and shouldn't take longer than 15 or 20 minutes.

I personally would recommend going with the Sirius instead of the XM. The Sirius has more stations, better stations, and even fewer commercials than the XM does, and they cost the exact same.....My GF has the Sirius in her '03 Mini Cooper S and she swears by it.

I still can't see paying for radio. I'll stick to my CD's.

It's kind of like broadband internet, you don't know what you're missing until you get it and then you'll never want to go back.

I prefer Sirius as well. It has commercial free music and Clear Channel is a partner in XM, so paying for it is supporting the death of music in America.

exactley thats why i want it plus i go on trips like backpacking, mtn. biking so forth so long trips is what i do. so instead of having to search for a good channel to listen to i know what i want to listen to and just change it to that type of music. i do occasionally have my cd's which right now i have my fosgate loaded with all 6 slots but i do mostly listen to xm. and you dont lose the signal anywhere i been in the middle of the mtns and still get reception because its satilite which is cool so while im relaxing after a hard ride or climb or trek through the mtns i listen to some music with my buds. plus to clear why i went xm then sirrus is that xm has the portable unit the delphi system which i have 2 of the 3 the boom box and my car system so i thought that was cool i can just pay one charge and be able to listen to it at home or in the car. didnt think this was going to get so many responses in this thread but thanks i like the info that who helped me and its cool. hope to cya on the road.

I love my XM and hear almost no commercials at all...maybe one every hour or two? At the time I subscribed Sirius wasn't even working and Pioneer was partnered with them. Pioneer was the only company to offer satellite radio AND an in-dash CD changer package, plus I know from experience that their car audio is some of the best made. So I went with it and I'm happy. That was two years ago! Would I like Sirius better? I dunno, but if I can't get it on my Pioneer system it doesn't matter.

As far as the Clear Channel thing goes, I just don't know. All I know about Clear Channel is that they are HUGE and own a lot of radio stations and such. I also know that quite a few people don't like them, but I don't know why; nor do I really care. I don't have time to go on Witch Hunts or worry about who's sleeping with who. I suspect it's mostly people who are jealous of what they've accomplished or a select group of people who don't approve of their views? Kinda like FORD owners vs. Chevy owners. Or maybe they are the same type of people who like to read the trash magazines or care about what celebrity is marrying who or who's wearing what. Whatever, as long as my XM works I don't care, and it works great!

I just thought of another way to look at it. The people who brought us the Encore and Alliance are in control of Nissan, but we all bought Xterras. Hell, 2 months before I saw an Xterra I had sworn I would never buy and SUV OR a Nissan. But I did it and I don't regret it.

BTW, I finally saw a Delphi unit just a few weeks ago when I was out shopping. Pretty neat deal! I am also seriously considering the XM PCR for my computer...looks pretty sweet.

I'm interested in a figure...

With all of the complaining about Clear Channel - my first thought is what percentage of US radio stations are owned by CC. Anybody know?

1999 figures: 4,783 AM, 5,766 FM and 2,066 FM Educational stations. Total: 12,615.

Clear Channel owned or operated: 1,200. (Doesn't seem like much, but they control nearly 40% of the listening audience).

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/policy/radio.html

One of the biggest problems - someone living in Cincinnati is now listening to a station programmed from L.A. How exactly does someone in L.A. know what the Cincinnati people want?

I have XM - and I'm happy with it. Sirius is just the same thing packaged differently (albeit $3 more). You'd be happy with either one, I think.

Keep in mind, however, that Sirius is much more cash-strapped than XM. IF one were to fail, it would be Sirius...but I don't think that's going to happen.

Last I knew, they also had the same number of stations: 100. (Well, unless you include the Playboy Channel on XM...giving them one more...but I have yet to figure out what someone would be listening to on Playboy....maybe someone reading Forum letters?)

LOL...I was wondering the same thing about the Playboy channel. Maybe they just play 70's porn music all the time? [LOL]

Sirius has NPR, and I thought about changing over - until I found out that those stations they do have do NOT carry NPR's biggest shows - ATC and Morning Edition, to start.
