I may be installing a wig-wag flasher kit on my head lights for one of the jobs I work... (the kit is available from http://www.galls.com ) and I'm wondering if anyone out there has put one of these on their Xterra yet. If so was it hard to install?

I thought about it but went with strobes. I had them on my old s-10 blazer loved them. with the strobes and dash laser they work very well. I also added two white alley lights on each side.

One would be that you're a law enforcement/emt/fireman and you need to have. It isn't because its cool, its because its needed.

i have the multi flash one from able products - easy to install just make sure to use plug in connections when you wire into the headlights so when you take it out it is much easier to get out and reattach the headlights - and yes they are needed when running on emergency calls - they move the traffic over better than most lightbars and can be seen further away

I have 4 corner strobes in the clear sections. I opted not to use the wig-wags as they needed to tap into an existing wiring harness and I was worried about voiding the warranty. The corner strobes run their own wiring and mount to its own spot in the fuse box. Plus, the dealer I bought the truck from is an authorized dealer for state contracts of police/fire vehicles. So they are factory authorized techs and with them doing the work, I have a much less chance of warranty issues. If you do come up with a kit that temporarily plugs into existing connectors that can be removed easily without a trac, please let me know what you did. I would be interested in finding out your method.

OOPS, forgot to mention that I chose to use 2 smaller packs - 1 for front, 1 for rear as they were solid state and water resistant and mounted them on the firewall. I couldn't find a place inside I was happy with. If you'd like, let me know and I will email you photos. Bill

[BUMP] I am installing a tailight flasher system in the X. Anyone done this? I'm using a cheap set from galls.
The Xterra has a 4 wire tailight system right? And if you have installed these, where did you put the isolation module?
Thx

Can you use "cheap" and "Galls" in the same sentence?? :-) I have installed the ABLE2 Microlight LED's and have been very happy with them.

The Xterra has a 4 wire tailight system right? Thx Sweet timing... I was going to post about this tonight too. I'm also about to install a taillight flasher in the rear. I've had too many close calls at accident/fire scenes of almost getting rear ended. Going to use this one.. Flashback Taillight Flasher because of the faster flash rate of 2.4 flash/sec and because it's got an auxilary output for some deck lights I'm going to mount in the lower front grill. I was going to remove one of the back side panels to mount the unit. Is this correct that the Xterra uses the 4 wire system? Any suggestions from anyone who's done this would be appreciated.

Gator, Did you install the strobes in the corner lenses, or in seperate lights? I was thinking about strobing but wasn't sure I could fit strobes in the corner lenses.

Less wire splicing and easier for someone like me(not good at electrical stuff) to do. I've some extra christmas money so that's what I'm doing with it. Hope your tailight flashers work out. If want to do strobes I can email you pics of the install when I'm done, (PM)

They're not really that expensive and get a whole lot more attention. And you don't have to butcher the stock wiring. Are you only putting strobes in the back, or all corners? I haven't completely ruled out strobes yet... so you may change my mind if they well for you! Definately keep me posted!

Lightning- if you are worried about the flash rate of your hazards, you may want to install an "Hyper Flasher" it's usually on eBay for about $15, it replaces your current flasher unit and make the lights blink like mad. It's also strong enough to work ok w/ my trailer w/ no issues.

Don't look too highly on vehicle lights up there in NY huh? That kinda sucks. Here in NC, we're basically allowed to have red, white and amber for the vol. fire department on the dash or in the turn signals. Only Chief/Assist Chief are (officially) allowed to have any type of light bars on the exterior. Not allowed to have wig wag or flashing headlights or any blue lights, which are both reserved for police.
The more I think about it, the more I'd like to send back the flashers and go to strobes.
Anybody have experience to share with taillight flashers?

Here are a few images of my LED set up.. Overall view ABLE 2 Dash LED (red/red) ABLE 2 Microlight LED (all run off one switch) I got the white ones for the rear deck for Christmas and should have them up before our next big weather event here.

Depending on which LED you get they can be less expensive than strobe. They most definatly last longer than strobe and draw less current.
The ABLE 2 line is an in-expensive LED product and I am VERY impressed with the light output.
The "strobe" power supply I am using will support up to 12 LED heads. (less if you use white, blue or green LED's)
