This is probably an old topic, but, oh well, grain of salt, right?

I want to get the Cobra 75, microphone control mounted, CB. I have no idea what kind of antennae to get, but I would rather not get a long, whiplash type one. Although, if these are many eschelon better, then I will.

Thanks in advance.

I just purchased a firestik II antenna. http://www.firestik.com

My swr is lower than I have ever had it, but I am getting alot of feedback from my stereo speakers. I don't think that is from the antenna though.

Here is where I purchased it: http://www.valcoelectronics.com/cbantenna/fsseries.htm
Very cheap! I was suprised. Hope this helps.

I just installed the 3ft. Firestik II No-ground plane antenna. My SWR readings are 1.2 across all 40 channels. It's mounted on my ARB, so it was suggested to go with the No-ground version.

Unless you're mounting your antenna in the center of your roof I would suggest going this route. It's only $1-2 more for the kit.

Here is the company I bought from. A nice guy who is willing to spend time talking to his customers.

I am waiting on my Cobra 75 to arive UPS, I was hoping it would come Friday, but no luck. I have a Cobra 28HH to use until the 75 gets here, and for use when I am out of my X spotting or gathering firewood or what ever.

I purchased a magnetic mount 3ft metal antenna to go along with the Cobra 75. I did not go with a fiberglass, because well.... its glass, and if it smacks a tree limb.... it will break just like glass. When I get a new rear bumper I will get a 4ft fiberglass whip because it will be more protected from damage being mounted to the rear bumper, rather than sticking up 4ft above my roof.

That reminds me, I need to get an antenna for my CB so I can put it in my truck. I miss having it. I've had the X for 7 months and have been driving deaf the whole time. Ugh. For me a roof mount isn't an option. Too many tree limbs to catch it on and, with many of my friends living in Boston, parking garages and roof mounted antennas don't like each other very much.

What about a FM reception booster? I have a station that I like that just barely comes in.

What type of antenna mount do y'all use? I am in New York City, and need to get into parking garages. I have a handheld unit, but want to mount an external antenna for road trips.
