I have a Uniden Pro 510XL CB in my X. The problem is, when people ask what kind of CB I have, I feel like an idiot because I don't know how to pronounce it. Is the "i" in Uniden pronounced like "eye", like one would say "You-neye-den" or is..."eh", like...crap, I don't know, "You-ne-den". Dang, does that make any sense? How do I pronounce it?
Geez, I feel stupid. I pronounce that, "Stoooopid."

you guys are horrible spellers.... It's Uniden, I don't what ya'll were trying to say. I think it depends on your accent and if you live in an area with a "draw". In the south we would add a few vowels in there somewhere and say it real slow.

One of the weaknesses of the English language is very sloppy rules for pronunciation. Spanish, for example, has far more strict rules for pronunciation that prevent these kinds of questions. Well, that and the fact that our language is made up of so darn many other languages. I'm sure praline is from some other country. France?

Calmini i pronounce like it was italian

in stead of the correct "Cal-mini" as in california mini

That is pretty funny about GOX and and ARB. I never knew the correct pronunciation of Calmini though...never would have thought it was Cal-mini! Have you guys ever heard someone call a pen an "ink pen?"

I believe the other way, pra(rhymes with bra)-leen. At least on the other side of the pond I never heard they 'pray-leen' version until I came this side.

Some history for the word:

The original praline recipe, developed for Cesar, Duke of Choseul, Count of Plessis-Praslin in 1636 by his head chef, Clement Jaluzot. In Texas it's pee-cahn prael-een. You gotta get that "eh" sound in after the "ay".... very slowly: puh-r-ay-eh-leen. :p

it's all aboot what kindve em-fass-iss you put and on what sill-ah-bull on which you put it i guess. call if your unit for all i care. my uniden works great and i just call it my CB.
oh, and don't worry, just say the word and when someone corrects you, just say "yeah, that's what i said," and then mimic them.
