Well I did a little test yesterday and I've confirmed that the 2002 keyless/alarm fob is not compatible with the 2000 keyless/alarm system. If I put my X in "learn" mode it does not detect the signal from the 2002 fob.

FYI if you prefer the 2002 style or were thinking of scoring one from Ebay, don't bother.
