been thinking about swapping out my 04 RF HU for a NAV. need your input, suggestion or anything you all can recommend.
04 SE w/ Rockford Fosgate and OEM AMP, SUB
here are my choices/plans:
1 x Eclipse AVN2210p 1 x SWI-ECL2 (to retain my steering wheel control) 1 x PAC OEM-2 (to utilize the AVN2210p w/ OEM AMP)
i'm certain the SWI-ECL2 is a must but unsure if the OEM-2 is needed.
anything i'm missing or do not need? thank you all in advance

Yes, you do need the OEM-2. It takes the speaker level outputs from the Eclipse and reduces them to a level that the Rockford amp can accept as an input. You may also consider replacing some speakers; at least the ones in front. Even spending $50 on a new pair up there will dramatically improve imaging and clarity.

The front speakers are 6x9, so look for those... in the sub-$100 range I would recommend the Infinity REF9613I, which are only $70 at crutchfield.com right now. Other brands to consider are Alpine, Boston Acoustics, JBL, and Polk. Other brands are okay, but generally unpopular (usually for a reason). Best bet would be to go to a local stereo shop and listen to some different brands to figure out what sounds best to your ears.

The Speaker set up above is from a Rockford Package -
you will know if you have that package, as you will see a big box for the sub on the Drivers side of the hatch area.
As an added note - if your replacing your front speakers - the 2002-2004 stock fronts have the spacer built in, so you will need to get a spacer for your replacements !

Though the installs aren't exactly the same in some respects, here is my speaker replacement thread in case it's useful. The headunit in my 2002 is absolutely identical in appearance to the RF system, has a 6-CD changer & steering wheel controls, everything - it just doesn't say "Rockford Fosgate" on it and I don't have a sub. What's the diff between this and the RF system besides no sub? And would the equipment listed by the thread starter work in my truck?

What's the diff between this and the RF system besides no sub? And would the equipment listed by the thread starter work in my truck? thank you for the thread. bookmarked it. as far as your non-RF HU goes, i'm sure the equipments i listed will be compatible with yours as well. but i don't think you will need the OEM-2 because you might not have an OEM AMP to utilize it with. i'm not quite sure though. don't think there are any differences between a in-dash 6 disc changer HU and a RF HU functionality wise.
