I was looking to possibility to rent in US offroad capable car (X preffered of course) with camping equipment. No luck so far.

Do You know any place which would have 4x4 trucks for rent. And I am not talking places like Moab with Jeeps for daily rental, I am looking to rent couple cars for week or two.

It is very easy to find such rentals in Africa or Australia ... but here ... are all the people driving hwy's and renting from Hertz's etc? and they will not let You go offroad anyway.

There are places that will rent camping gear, so you may have to get the vehicle one place and the gear from another.

Hertz rents NextGen X's, but I don't know if they're 4x2 or 4x4s.

When I went to Colorado, I rented a '05 pathy that had 4x4. When I dropped my wife off to do some shopping and I had the kids in the truck. The kids and I found a trail behind the shopping center and played in the dirt for a little bit. I even used the 4x4 to climb up a hill.

Oh yeah, that truck was through Enterprise.

I rented a 2005 Xterra SE with 4 wheel drive from Enterprise at the Atlanta airport. They gave it to me because they ran out of intermediate cars.

A week later, I bought my own!

i rented a CHevy HHR in Miami last time i was there, out of ecomony cars.
we returned it would not rent another one!

Rented an LandRover Disco in Toronto. It was 2AM and they were out of full size cars, the only thing they had to offer was the Disco or a Volvo Cross Country. I picked the Disco of course.

There are a couple places in CO that rent Jeeps and are for the offroad use.

I checked around many places to rent Nissans but offroad damages are then billed to you.
