Is it possible to add AUX input to 2003 Xtera with Rockford Fosgate audio? It is the 6 CD in-dash changer version.

Is the amp a separate unit?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for it?

Here's a link to a post a while back from someone who did hook up an AUX unit to their factory head unit. The RF unit may be a little different, but it's possible, since it has a CD changer input....

The 6-disc RF in the 2003 doesn't have a changer control to my knowledge... I'll confirm that when I yank it tonight. I'm aware of the mod on the 2000 stock stereo, but from all the threads I've read here if you want to add an aux on the 2003 RF setup, you're stuck with FM Modulation or installing a new HU.

Nope, there's no changer input on the 6 disc RF system.

I'd be *REALLY* suprised if PAC or someone doesen't have an interface for the factory amp to add an AUX input. It's not that uncommon of a request, especially for people with X's that want to add a LCD screen and DVD. In fact, I'd almost guarantee someone makes one.

And if they don't, then it's not going to be too hard to rig up for a repair shop. It's just an amp, nothing special. There are only so many kinds of audio connections in use... even the balanced line stuff is relatively easy to interface with.

All depends on how much you want to pay for the ability to do it..

Drop by an audio store and ask. If they aren't familiar with it, ask them to look in their mobile installer trade magazine, because just about every one of them has someone selling this kind of stuff..

FM Modulators are readily avaliable, easy to install, and relatively cheap...

or if you're serious about quality...

You can replace the RF deck with an aftermarket MP3 deck with an AUX input for probably less. I was concerned about losing my 6 disc changer at first, because it is really nice to have, but after installing a MP3 deck and Sirius tuner, I can tell there's not going to be a problem with missing the stock changer. Just dropping in the deck made a big difference, and then switching out the speakers made even more of a difference.
