I would not want to pay $400.00 for a upgraded ALT, since I have had no power problems out of my stock unit.
Here is what I am running on the stock battery and ALT,

1 amp - 200x4 rms at 4ohms (6 1/2's, 6x9's)
1 amp - 100x2 rms at 4ohms ( 2 10s )
80w piaa fog lights
45/65w piaa head lights
80w piaa 520 series driving lights
11 strobes
1 siren with a 100w speaker
And a tail light flasher

I have turned everything on at once with on problems. When my factory battery dies I will up grade.

Powermaxx is custom building me a 225 watt alternator at this time. Cost-about $950. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.

Absolutely NOT! I'm running the following accessories in or on my truck with the stock battery and the stock alternator:

-PIAA 55/90 headlamp bulbs
-55W fog light bulbs
-120 Amp Amplifier
-Powered Bazooka tube subwoofer
-4 KC Daylighters
-Twin diesel air horns on an air compressor

I've had no problems at all, but I am considering a yellow top Optima... just to "be sure." Also, I have yet to drive around with my high beams on, the horn honking, Daylighters blazing with the stereo cranked up to "eleven" either!

Gator-I've had the alternator for about five months now and I have no complaints. It works great and their customer service is terrific. It is kind of loud though, and took some getting used to. Let me know if you have any questions. Tracey

I just can't believe that someone paid almost a grand for an alternator, albeit one that cranks out 225 amps (running a small town are you?).

I came across a place that would build a 180amp for $399. Price per amp lower. (Though I cannot vouch for quality).
