I came back from Goodman early, I have to refinish a dresser tomorrow!

It was an honor and a privelage to hang out and wheel with such a great group of people. We did have one big down point Friday evening, but I will let that come out in it's own way (probably through the use of pictures!) Let's just say that the problem didn't get resolved till Saturday morning and involved a tow truck!

We had beer, brats, fireworks, fireballs, mud, and we even found a new use for the stock step rails! Pictures soon to follow in the MXO gallery!

That is me. When he got stuck, I started swearing at myself for not having my winch yet. It turned out though that there weren't any good trees to use, and he was so stuck that I don't know if I could have gotten him out. I probably would have snapped my cable. We broke 2 straps, 1 chain, and the tow truck driver snapped something I think.

Needless to say, a winch is next on my list.

I pulled a Tacoma out of something like that.

Nothing to tie to so I got a few trucks behind me and lashed us together with tow straps.. then I used a snatch block to double the winch power.

Get a winch. laugh

The front right end of his truck was infront of about 4 feet of earth, and his frame was dragging on the ground. I think I might have been able to extract him with your solution, but it would have been interesting!

that sucks.

How long of a drive is it to get up there? It looks to be about a 6 hour drive from MN.

I think somewhere between 5-6 hours. You Minnesota guys could always stop at my house in Wausau (3 hours) and sleep, drink, ect...then leave in the morning. There is a place about 35 minutes or so away from Goodman that offers some more technical stuff. Excelegator just went up their a couple of days and said it is pretty decent. I am waiting on more info from him.

You don't need to order anything. You just need a set of spreading snap ring pliers, a bearing packer, grease, and a torque wrench. I may be missing something, but I assure you that you don't need to order anything.

There is a special socket to remove the nut that holds the bearings into the hub. It's just a socket with 2 prongs sticking out to grab hold of the nut (I've heard some people using a punch and hammer) but that tool makes it so you don't damage anything, you'll also need it to torque the nut down (can't torque it with a punch and hammer).
You also might want to pick up some grease seals for the inner bearing, they are very difficult to remove without destroying them, better to have the part then find out later you need them and all the shops are closed.
As for packing the bearings, I've always hand packed them.
