This is a 3.0 rated trail that has been done by stock Xterra's. It is also a LONG trail so bring lunch and a full tank.

yasha, you should be fine, when i ran crown king in that video my rig was 4 days old and i hadn't even signed all the papers for it either, i ran it stock, just take your time, becareful and if you think you can't make it, don't force it, the rock gardens will get you if you're not careful.

Now that would be interesting.

I decided I'm taking Wed-Fri off, to finish my Baja.

I'm going to take you up on the Tow Wally, at least to the trail head. And home. (Not Currently Registered)

So here's to hoping I get done and dialed in 'in-time'. [drink]

I'm allergic to an illegal substance. I am not sure I can handle a rainy trailhead. especially if I'm going to be sliding around everywhere. Plus if it's going to be muddy, I don't want to be washing my truck of 5 times again. but u know what, screw it. I'm in

We were thinking of taking Kae skiing for her first time this weekend, but it looks like its going to be dumping up in Flag so it might not be the best time. So we might come play in the mud. Crown King should be fun in the rain smile

I'll confirm on Friday.

North on I-17 to Carefree Hwy. Head east on Carefree Hwy, Chevron station is on the left less than a mile from I-17.

Mark, would love to have another 1st Gen truck along, hope you can make it.

I think the Carefree Highway (HWY 87?) is exit 224 or so on the I17 if that helps Yasha.

Tim, we're pretty likely to make it I think. Shan is hemming and hawing at the moment because school is pretty busy for her, but I think she'll come around smile

Onix... I have an adjustible drop hitch to I think 8" You're welcome to it... Just let me know in time.

karlover007... I was my truck when it's at the dealers smile ... Just got some more sqeeks nailed down last Monday so last months mud has been washed away.

As for the trip... Put me down for a probably. Sheila is out for sure though, she has other plans.

Yasha... I drug ProjectX up some of the mud last time so just stay near me if I make it smile And remember, I only have 100ft on the winch and another 60ft in tow straps... So no pulling me off the mountain, I won't be able to get us back to the top :p

The new tires still haven't been on rock... So Onix or DBAX is going to have to show me that side trail we skipped last time... I think I'm gaim for it now. Give these babies a good test finally.

I just have to do a little work on the truck tonight (since I think I have plans tomorrow night) and then I should be ready. Gotta adjust my shackles... The catch... All my tools are in boxes since I was cleaning the garage and just got a new tool chest to move everything to the other night... So I'll have to dig for the wrenches and sockets.

I should be fine. as long as I don't fall off a cliff. I'm confident in the tires, that I'll be able to make it up the mud.

Your tires are good... That was my last set and I think karlover007 has the same set too... And I put him though lots of ice, snow, and mudd last month.

You'll have no problems... Though don't follow me if I get to run the side trail Onix and DBAX warned me about last time... They said it was pretty bad and would probably requier winching back when I was just armor.

Sweet dude! You wanna meet us at the trail head??? You could take Lake Pleasent Pkwy all the way to the Carefree Hwy I beleive.
That might be easier for you...I hope we'll be outta the gas station by 8:30am to hit the air down spot round 9am...?

The stock trucks that are going (including me) should be fine. In my main truck, I've never hit the sliders on this trail. Every major obstable(s) is an option and the rest is a cakewalk. There's one spot when you really start to gain elevation that is a little tricky, but you need spotting up it there's plenty of people here with experience that can help you. Crown King is probably the best beginner trail around here. You'll all have fun.

Just watch out for the gas tank since you have nothing protecting it. An SE only has the front skid (aka tin foil)... I went with a bone stock last time with smaller stock tires than yours and he only took one mark on the gas tank... No damage... just a scrach. You're all good smile

pretty much can handle anything... up to like 10 feet of water and it has self inflating/deflating tires by the push of a button.. and a push button automatic trans which kinda sux actually (i like stick).. never did any rock crawling with the LMTV but that would be pretty fun.. i think it handles better than the HMMWV.. just really big is all. and worse when you have a load and big trailer..

My crew made it home safe, with a broken motor mount and cracked engine air hose thingy to show for it. Had a great (but LONG!) drive up. Glad we finally made it out again!!!

Made it home a few minutes ago. Took the truck to the power washer before I got home to get all the mud off of it. Found a nice big dent on the rocker panel just behind the driver front tire laugh .

Thanks for a fun day everyone. Crown King was a totally different beast today!

Thank you all, we had a blast. I did seem a little long but thanks to Dan we kept our selves occupied by watching to cracks race up the window. I was pretty intence they started out about 3" appart and by the end are dead even and about half way up. "Clutch", you did really good for your first time! It's a lot different than a quad HUh? I can't wait to see the vids and pics! Thanks again everyone!

Great trip. Thanks to everyone for making it a really fun day. I think everyone did a great job driving, expecially the newer guys with no mods yet. [ThumbsUp]

Hope to see you all soon. Next meeting is Feb 2nd, trying to hook up with Tom at Pinnacle, lots of phone tag though.

T-Ray... Sheila has two dealers calling her asking when we are going to show up at thier place. Power and Earnhart (Earnhart calls about once a week). She was supposed to give Wally the info, but I take it she hasn't yet smile

Oh... Chris (Wally's Co-Pilot) took a lot of really great pics for all of us. Even one shot just befor DBAX's miss-hap. I just got them onto the laptop and am resizing them all now. So at my normal pace ... By tomorrow I should have a couple hundred pics online for everyone.

I don't know what dealer DBAX is going to pick a fight with, but I'll gladly stand up on his behalf. He did nothing different than me, same lines, same tires, same wheel spin... And well we all know what happened. Just make me wonder when I'm next. And I'll be getting my rig in for the overheating hear real soon... Easy to reproduce on the trail, but I've never been able to on pavement.

Great trip... Hope we didn't scare off the new guys smile

We ran into some snow, nothing fresh or falling. Had a beautiful day for wheeling - not too hot, not too cold. Water wasn't high at all at the crossings either.

I'll try and start a new thread tonight with the highlight photos... I barely got them all resized and rotated upright smile

As always... Originals are avalible and are 8x10 quality (with no distortion), PM me and we will work something out since each image is about 3MB each. (for those of you that want to get some physical pics from walgreens, walmart, costco, where ever).

Thnx for the awsome pics! It was a blast. Funny story: Was on the way home today and I saw a blaser on the side of an unstable hill. It didn't look right so I turned around to see if they needed help. Shure enough as soon as I pull up the two barely legal drivers ask for a strap. In the role they grounded a wire and burnt the wiring harness. So I towed them out and home, about a mile a way. It was a nice blaser sitting on 37's. The toy towed it without a wimper. They were OK but not looking forward to going home. I wish going home was always that fun!

On Monday, I went out wheeling in a Tomcar. One of the guys (not sure how to say his name, but it sounds like Haim, like the word "life" in hebrew) anyway.... He drove an offroad X and said that he saw a group of X's up at Crown King on saturday.

He works for Tomcar, so he doesn't wheel the X and I gotta say that those Tomcars are AWESOME!

You can do bumpy, rocky trails at 30mph and be bounced around less that an SUV at 5mph.

On a side note- I went to the river crossing at Table mesa (where it meets up with Lake pleasant) and was AMAZED at how wide the river is!

Hey I just posed the pics (and yeah too lazy to get them on the board)... Chris took them.

Be sure to pass thanks to him... He was out chasing us down trying to get good shots. I think for his second time with my camera he did a pretty good job.
