I got across the river and as I started out on to shore, the ground gave way. It was like
talcum powder dirt, and the big tires were just diggin' right in. So I backed off (into the water, hood high) and tried to crawl out sideways on the left of the ruts, nada. By now, water was coming in the back hatch. The spare tire was mostly submerged. (It was a pretty steep embankment) The dog was trying to climb up front with me instead of enjoying the water
.. So I dropped back down in to the now very muddy water, and straightened out. I goosed it out of the water and onto shore. With a big cloud of dirt and dust, I came to rest on the bank. I radio'd for Preston, and within a minute he was getting to try out his new winch. Little did he know, I set a precedent for the day and he'd be using his winch two more times in the next 10 minutes. The 2nd recovery took over an hour and took two winches and an anchor truck,
, good times..
YelloGeeko had some engine concerns, but other than that, we couldn't have asked for a better day on Table Mesa.
BTW, the "big hill" looks
now. We stopped and looked at it at one point, but for some reason never got close enough to start up it
..
I'm looking for a reason to go back out there
