#330419 - 10/07/07 05:26 PM FAT TIRE RUN INFO Friday Aug 3rd to Sunday
Anonymous
Unregistered

Yeah it's a new topic from the shirts.

Does anyone need to know where to meet Friday night out of Flagstaff August 3rd?

Only Rinky and one other truck needs to start from the top, you are welcome to camp up there if you want to get up and drive all the way back down to start camp Saturday morning

Seems silly to me but hey.

I am supposed to get driver name and insurance info. Please email that to me at Marshall@goodimpressions.com if you can.

A run down for the newbs if any.

Meet out of Flagstaff Friday night August 3rd. Be quiet as the riders are sleeping. Party anyway, but be quiet. Do not zip tie Marshalls tent closed if it is raining. Bastages.

Get up crack early and go to a spot on the course and veg out.

Follow last rider into end camp, drink free beer and eat good food cooked by marines.

Attend raffle and have fun.

Drink more beer.

Sleep or drink all night.

Eat breakfast cooked by marines.

Have Sunday to yourself in the forest just below the Grand Canyon.

Feel good and help raise a bunch of money for Toys for Tots.

OOhh ya, I'm excited now, I didn't realize this was a new thread at first.

I'll send over the Insurance info, what do you need? Company, Policy #, Exp Date, anything else?

Did I say I'm eXcited?

Thank you Marshall! [drink]

That is freaking hilarious! [Spit]

I know u find it absurd, but Bren and I will most likely do what we did last year and setup at end camp, and drive down to start in the am. Everyone knows we are simply incapable of packing light, and it worked great for us. Besides, with all the camp gear, I have no room for bikes or riders
We are bringing the Frontier, as Bren has been talking about Fat Tire since we bought the thing.
Plus, gives us room for bikes and such.

Time off approved, and ready to go.... [ThumbsUp] [drink]

You are right that wasn't nice. It was Shauna who instigated.

Marshall also if you don't mind I would add a tip that I have personal experience with.

Don't set off your alarm at 6am when you wake up, people who have been drinkin and riders who have been resting all night don't appreciate it. laugh

Is this where you're camping Friday Night? I'm hoping to find it without driving around in the mud in the middle of the night for an hour. [Laughing]

It's pretty easy to find Adam and it should be sign posted - was the last 2 years anyway. The camp ground isn't more than a mile or 2 down the road off of Hwy 180. I think we got there in the dark 2 years ago when we camped down at the start.

Easy guy forest service roads.

No close brush.

Unless it rains you could drive a car the whole way.

Except a lane of Xterra's, a blue hardbody and a 2007 Red 4 door Wrangler carrying 2 people who haven't had time to take a vacation or even get away to camp for 1 measley night in over a year because of a certain 31 foot, 14,ooo pound, obnoxiously yellow, 1945 WWII vehicle.

Bitter? nah- just frickin' tired and in need of some R&R in the high country.

Well everything is looking good on our end to bring both trucks up. The Xterra is nearly finish with all the parts all over the house being installed. and the Frontier is still waiting on ShrockWorks (I heard there are 30 other bumpers waiting after ours is finished right now).

We'll be leaving out of Tempe right after work (working on getting off early) so I can't make the 2PM meet... Anyone want to meet latter and head up together? Oh and if anyone from Maricopa needs extra room hit me up and we can pack it for ya. I should have plenty of room with both trucks if I can get Sheila to pack light.

We got mud in Maricopa the other night... Anyone know how it will be up there?

The conditions up there are a bit unpredictable unfortunately. Year before last it was pure swamp and then about 20 miles from the finish a storm hit, which made it even worse.

Last year it was nowhere near as bad and the rain stayed away.

I expect to be on the road around 4, it'll be close to 5 before I make I17 / Carefree (Not the best time to be in that area). I figure I can hit end camp by around 9pm with a stop in Flag for some dinner. Start Camp is about 1 hour or so closer, as it's not to far outside Flagstaff.

It looks like this can be my first run with the AZXC crew. I have been to one meeting and this could be my first excursion. Not bad being I have had my X for in AZ for 6 years. [Too much XOC]

I can get the time off work and my wife and oldest daughter will be out of town. Question is I will have my youngest daughter with me. She is two years old. Is this a "family friendly" kind of thing. She is a super mellow kid and I know she would love to hang out with her Dad in the forest with the "big trucks".

If you think it would be ok to bring her I am all in. I will be meeting at the Cheveron at 2pm if all is good. If my girl won't be a problem then I will email over my insurance info. Thanks guys.

All the bad news... I'll add some good news... I'm a GO.

Sheila is off at 1PM so I will try my hardest to catch the first group up. If anyone wants to exchange numbers let me know and I can tell you day of if I will be at the meeting place at 2.

The Fronty will most likely not have its front bumper as we are still waiting to hear back from Jim. But both trucks are headed up and we are looking forward to help out with the bike run as well.

No one has been kind enough to answear my concearns as of yet. I'd love to join up for the trip.

Is it OK to bring her, or should I try to have my mother watch her for the trip?

Should I remove my sub box from the back so I can put down the back seats?

If you guys would like another X tagging along I will send my insurance info over and hopefully with all the cancellations there is a T-Shirt floating around for me.

Thanks for the info. I would be at the first 2pm run group.

Sorry, didn't catch your first post with the question. Yes absolutely, this is family friendly, however you're responsible for your own kiddo. Duh, huh? Now if you want to get the most enibriated you may want to leave her home. I'm leaving mine home this year unless I loose my co-pilot and then I may consider bringing her. She just turned 3 but can be a handfull when she doesn't get to nap.

I would suggest dumping the Sub box due to the possibility of having to help a stranded rider, etc. The more room the better.

Call if you need anything else.

Kiddo & I will be meeting at the I-17 Chevron with the 2:00 group.

I recommend camping at the end so you don't have to haul all your gear around & have more room for bikes & riders. That's my plan anyway.

Last year I rode cleanup with Ty & Brenda. Wouldn't mind doing the same this year.

I'll send Marshall my insurance info when I get home.

I don't have a bike rack, but I do have a cargo carrier that goes on the hitch that ought to hold a couple of bikes.

Looks like I'm a go for Friday afternoon. My girl is off at 1PM so if the 2PM guys can hold out long enough for us to race across town we are tagging along in the X and the Fronty again.

I like the idea of camping at the end since my girl ALWAYS over packs and wouldn't even leave enough room for a driver if she could laugh

The Fronty should be empty in the back... Not sure what I can do with the X with the swing arm on the back, but I guess some tie downs will do for putting things on the roof if I have too laugh

Looking forward to helping out again this year. We always have a blast.
We are going to try and pack light....which for anyone who has seen us camp will be packing like a normal person.
My screensaver is still from last year, and it was not a muddy run in 06.....

Ok... So to keep Sheila from over packing and having no room for bikers... What do we REALLY need to have with us as in food, drinks, camping gear?

I know alot of stuff is being supplied so I want to make sure not to bring that, and will we be in an established camp ground?

Oh and I'll try to get my insurance info for both the trucks tonight... Family stuff has been nuts for me. My Great Aunt is in Hospice now and shouldn't make it the week. So my prayers are with her.

I still am plaining on being at Fat Tire though. Everyone knows that this has long been planned and it is for a good cause.

And on that note... What happened with the group donation? I got two trucks so it's only fair I count twice right?

Hi Guys(and gals)I just happened to catch this thread and it sounds like something I'd love to participate in. Unfortunatley I'm working in Prescott friday and don't think I'll make the friday night campout, but I'd be willing to get up at the crack of azz on sat am and meet you at the campsite. Is that something that is do-able? Also I'm a complete newbie and have never met any of you, but would love to volenteer my time on saturday in any way that helps. I am not familliar with this event, could someone explain it a bit for me? Is this a mtn bike race of some sort, or something else? Being ex-military myself I'd love to lend a hand and meet some AZXC'ers at the same time. Will some of you be camping saturday night/wheeling sunday? Like I said I'm a newbie so sorry If I don't understand the logistics of this event, I'd just love to lend my time/help to the event and meet a few of you at the same time. Thanks -Jeff

PS Shrock front bumper arrived today, hope to have it mounted by this time tomorrow eve!

DIRECTIONS FOR FIRST TIMERS

Fill up your GAS TANK in Flagstaff

Start Camp

HWY 180 North (NW) out of Flagstaff. It's about 7 miles to the turn off on your left (FR 222).

It is just after a long straight portion of road as you pass Fort Valley and the last of the houses and just past a street that is Bader on the left and Roundtree on the right.

If you pass FR 151 on your right you went to far.

You should also see a bright yellow sign with red letters that say Toys For Tots etc. at FR 222. Or you can look on a map for HWY 180 and 222. There is a sign post there that will have glow sticks on it from dusk to whenever.

So it's like a mile a so down FR 222 and there is camp.

If you get there after sundown PLEASE BE QUIET. The party is the next night.

If you want to go to end camp and come back EARLY in the morning, PLEASE CHECK IN WITH ME at start camp.

Those directions are

Hwy 180 to Hwy 64, North (right) on 64 for aboput 22.5 miles.

Right on FR 302 There is a "scenic view" sign right before the turnoff.

Fr 302 about 9 miles to a fork with 301A

Right on 301A 1-1.5 miles to camp.

All folks going to end camp must be at SAG 1 BY 7 a.m.

YOU WILL NEED

Dinner Friday night.

Saturday Breakfast and lunch, water etc.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember that you are there solely to assist riders. DO NOT DRIVE your truck when there are riders present, pull over and wait AND DON'T TAILGATE riders.

I would venture that they would like SOBER PEOPLE driving riders, because if you are driving riders it probably means it's raining and muddy.

You are part of a great event that RAISES MONEY for TOYS for TOTS (Fat Tire is just a sponser)and I and the Dirty Girls thank you for YOUR SUPPORT!!

Oh and BTW be careful but ""The Kaibab National Forest has no fire restrictions beginning Wednesday, July 25, 2007.""
