Not to overshadow this weekends festivities, but...

Hey all, my buddy from Cali is coming out here for the Cardinals-Cowboys game on the 12th. I plan on taking him out on a little Xcursion Friday the 10th or Saturday the 11th. Anyone that wants to go would be more than welcome to join in the fun.

Looking at Crown King, BA (if we don't run it this weekend), or Edwards Park Trail, or...??? I am open to anything, I just wanna take him out for a little off-roadn'

I know you got the weekend off defibvt... [Wave]

EDITED TO CHANGE SUBJECT TITLE smile

Let's get some plans going for this coming weekend so everyone is not left in the dark come Friday.

I say let's run BA, Soldier Pass, etc;...I think Dan suggested that in another thread. But there mya be alot of pinkies which is no bueno.

My second choice would be the Florence area. No pinkies and harder trails, which is muy bueno.

Leave Saturday around 10:00am I am guessing?

I should be at the meeting Friday but I can't do any more crazy stuff/runs until fricking Calmini gets me my steering system. My front end is so hosed right now...I'm just hoping it doesn't blow up before they get their act together.

I'd be up for coming on the excursion, don't want to put my rig through anything to hardcore tho until I get a little more armor.

Sounds like you guys might be heading somewhere a little tougher than my limited experience is good for.

I don't think Broken Arrow or Soldier Pass would be considered Hardcore.

You shouldn't have a problem. There are always detours around hard points anyway.

Let's do BA, etc. but meet at the Chevron by 8:00 instead. I have my Niece's Birthday Party at 2:00 or so, they still haven't decided yet.

Broken Arrow will be cake for Rog and Tom, Mark can run albeit conservatively and hope a couple others can make it.

If we get done early we can go through Jerome on the way back and stop for a Sud and sandwich at that little brewery there. [drink]

I'm down (or is it up confused ) for BA, etc this saturday. Sedona's always cool, although Payette Draw in Payson is great too. I'll drive either one [ThumbsUp] .

Cool! Coming back thru Jerome gives me an excuse to hit Prescott on the way home.

Adam, you really think we'll be back in town by 2:00? I'd be happy making it to Precott by then.

I'm down if there is an easier ways past the hard core stuff, because I'm pretty new at this off roading thing and I'm in a stock 2006 and don't want to bang it up to much yet. Can someone give me directions or an address to where we are meeting.

Thanks

Jon

We will meet up at the Chevron gas station located at I-17 and Carefree Hwy at 8:00am.

We will all help you learn to negotiate whatever obstacle you want. If there is a will there is a way. Just come on out, I guartantee you will have a great time with a good group of folks.

The best way to learn to off-road is to do it. Kinda like sex...hmmmmm...sex and off-roading...both fun and rough at times!

Personally, i'd rather do Payette Draw. Its new territory and it meets the criteria of a more hardcore trail for this months excursion on the east side.

Nothing against sedona, but it seems that we do that trail multiple times a year, and should use this opportunity for an xcursion to do something that... well .. isn't sedona :p

There will be those who don't meet the minimum requirements of the trail, may want to put together a side trip.

Speaking of minimum Requirements, Dbax, what are they?

From what I have heard of Payette Draw, isn't there bypasses around most of the difficult stuff anyway? Or am I thinking of another trail. Is that the one that Dan hit with the Jeeps & Swanky?

I'm down for wherever. Just need to know the meeting place and time. I cannot make the Club meeting on Friday as I have to work so I can go Saturday.

Place, Time, meet up spot?

After looking at Payette...I am voting YES. It would be a better trail to run when there is a group that can help with tricky spots. Sedona is easy cheesy.

Minimum req's for Payette?

I'm up for it as long as we're not scaring off anyone and I can stick to my timeframe of being on the way back by 2 pm.

I'd assume that those with Mudflaps and or steprails need to remove them for Payette?

I'm up for Payette Draw, but will my STOCK 06 handle it or should I venture up to Sedona?

Just in from work and I'm happy to see so many willing to kick it up a notch. Payette draw can be done IFS, and no traction aids(lockers/gears) are necessary. There are some off camber spots and some gnarly rock gardens. The shelves can split you rtires in two also. But, it's a beautiful trail and a good challenge for most anyone. As Adam noted, mudflaps and steprails should be removed, but no suspension or body lifts are even necessary otherwise. Careful attention will be given to drivers w/o proper armor, but operator skill will play the biggest part in keeping damage free here. We'll of course only run the lower half of the trail, upper is much shorter but impassable to us all. Bring liquids and plan to lunch somewhere in the pines, it should be a great day [ThumbsUp] .
Oh, bring spares if you have 'em too; TREs, hubs, ratchet straps, tools, etc. jic..

The Chevron's on the Carefree Hwy E of I-17 on the N side, you won't be able to miss it. Have an FRS radio (or two) set too channel 14.0 . If you have a CB, we usually run 17 (SWANKy Net).

Any thoughts on how to get there? Of course, leaving up I-17, the quickest way is north to Camp Verde, then the 260 E across and up to Payson. (We could from 260 also hit FR300 and ride that east across the Rim and back out to Payson, but I digress..) Oor, from the Chevron, Carefree Hwy east to 87, and N into town from there?
Either way let's be prepared to leave the McDonalds in Payson by 9:30. M'kay? smile

Ty, Scott, Travis, Tomas, Thomas? How 'bout it guys? Lets get everyone out for the end of the year?

EDIT to add- Duhrr, the movie link..
