Sedona can be run with a stock Gen1 or Gen2 X. Sliders are good to have, but not necessary. You'll never need a skidplate there either, unless you're looking for a way to center yourself.. The other two trails; Soldier Pass Road, and Teacup Trail, are both scenic and fun too, but again, you wouldn't need skids for anything on the redrocks..

In Payette, sliders are mandatory, and skidplates'd prolly be helpful for harder lines, although not entirely necessary. MTs or BFG AT/kos are recommended for this trail too..

Since I don't have any armor either, I'm a little skittish about Payette. Lots of crunching going on in that vid.

Maybe we should have two runs. Payette for the hardcore folks & Sedona for the wussies like myself.

Looks like we have a split decision. I would really like to have a big group for this run and get some good pictures and have a good Saturday Xcursion.

Wherever we go let's go as a club and represent. I trust the guys with more built trucks to help me through any tough spots. Plus, you never know what you are capable of unless you try.

Bottom line: let's get as many Xterra's together on Saturday as possible. If that means a more accomodating trail, so be it. Just my .02.

It's not about being a wussie smile . Sedona is one specific type of terrain, perfect for offorading novices, and the scenery in the canyons around is world famous. The trail's great obviously  .. There was a whole industry built around it. And they're not so bad. Recent legislation has taken a bit of their bark..
Payette Draw more than armor, or any doo dads, just requires more driver skill I think. Keep in mind, those are built sheep and as such are taking optional harder lines. Not to mention that axle-thing up front.. I'll be happy to bring those interested up there soon (late NOV, early Dec), as perhaps more can run with us this weekend on the Sedona trails..

I second that Dan.

Just say the word and I will run Payette with ya.

"You're still dangerous. But you can be my wingman anytime."

"Bullshit, you can be mine."

Sorry, that quote just popped into my overly large brain.

If those who've done it before think I can do it, then I'm willing to give it a go.

If not, I'd be happy to do Sedona so nobody has to go alone.

I'd like to see a large showing too quite honestly, I just don't want anybody to feel left out.

I'll be there. May have the wife & Sprog too - not sure about them yet. Waking up at 6:30am on a Saturday is not really something my wife does! smile

Sweet smile I’m in AZ this week laugh

Prescott 11/8, TF&J and I are heading to Payette Draw on Thursday.

After that we may hit Terminator and/or Raw Deal on Friday.

So where & when can I meet you folks near the Table Mesa Area on Saturday? I have some friends in Sedona I’d like to visit

If anybody is up for some midweek wheelin’ let us know and we can arrange some meets.

Brian

Sweet! Looks like we are gonna have a good group.

Xtoolbox:
I would say put you FRS or CB on 14 or 17 respectively and as we near Table Mesa Rd, jump in the convoy with us. If we leave the Chevron about 8:15 that puts us at Table Mesa about 8:35ish. Or we can all get off the freeway and wait for ya.

Or call me on your cell: 4802517976 and I can tell ya where we are.

What time do you think we would get back to town after running the trails up there? Traffic permitting of course. My brother in law might tag along, but he plays hockey on Saturday evenings so we would need to be back by 5'ish if he does.

I know Adam needs to head back at 2:00pm. I would venture to guess that we will be back by 5:00pm.

Hello there people.

Just joined the forum recently, new to the area as well and to the car. Was hoping to join you all this Saturday, but being an uber-noob in offroading (i don't think crossing creeks in VW Golf counts) I am wondering how difficult the chosen trails would be for someone like me? I got the '06 S with 4x4 absolutely stock.

Wouldn't want to find out my car's limitations the first time I am out and the hard way!

You will be just fine to go on the run this weekend. We will meet at the Chevron located at I-17 and carefree hwy at 8:00am on Staurday.

Hope to see ya there. Your X is capable of a great amount of off-road situations. The only way to find out what YOU are capable of is to go wheelin'.

I'm an offroad noob too and have been convinced that Sedona doesn't pose to much risk to me & my rig. Been looking forward to heading up there since I got the thing a year ago and now I finally will.

It did however cost me $135 for a pair of Red Velvet DM Boots << Boots Clicky >> in order to persuade the wife to let me go for the day. But that is a small price to pay for freedom! smile

Too Funny Roger!

I'm sitting in McDonalds parking lot in Payson. Going to go check out the Payette Draw with Xtoolbox and TF&J. I guess we're only doing the easier part. I'll let you know how it is, but I won't have any Digital Pictures, Joannie has the Camera.

Noobs should remove the Steprails and Mudflaps to avoid damaging them. They are easy to remove and really you won't miss them that much. Take the rear swaybar off if you really want to be prepared, it'll let you take some better lines with better flex.

Hope to see you all Saturday. [Wave]
