Everyone in the midwest area - I think it would be cool to caravan out to the GOX. I am planning on going this year. I know it is early, but you know what they say - "early bird blah blah blah...." Any suggestions?

Sure HXOC always caravans out there and I imagine you would be welcome to join us. I live in central Illinois and would be willing to meet you here and head west. Always a good idea to plan ahead. Dunno how many from our group will be going this year but I imagine we will go to the KC area where a majority of our members are from and all leave from there.

I could always join the caravan in StL.

Sounds like a plan. Like I said we will probably all meet up in the KC area Saturday and start the trek west. Worked well last year.

We also have a good 9 months to get all the plans worked out. :p

I believe that I had seen a post about Mtn. biking, and I assume that there would be plenty of that along with hiking, the towns of Ouray, Silverton, Durango and ghost towns?
I have never been in SW Colorado before but have always wanted to go and this would be my first GOX then.
My X is stock, but would it be worthwhile getting some new tires by then?

You should be fine with a completely stock 4X4 truck but new tires never hurt no body. It's the only mod I had at the time and I did everything all the lifted trucks did. Pleantly of things to do if you wanted to mountain bike or what not.

Like Elroy said we have time to plan but my schedule will be similar to last years. Leave Mt. Zion and meet Elroy in St Louis and whoever else from the east side. Then head west and stay at Steve's in Lawrence hopefully (hint hint). Then we will all head to Hardees on the I70 turnpike and meet everyone else then head West.

Mt. Zion is in the central part near Decatur which is East of Sprinfield. You could come down here and meet me or we could all meet up out west. Like I said pleanty of time to plan. I am going if I have to do something to get suspended for that week...

I think I'll probably check with you Midwest guys about hooking up somewhere on the way to Colorado. I'll be coming from North Carolina. I hope I can gather some fellow X'ers to make the journey with me.

You would be welcome to meet with me RedX here in Illinois then make the trip to the rest of the group.

Hopefully we won't have any lay-overs on I-70 like last year like: ride up to any auto accidents, tractor-trailer fires and tipped over cattle trailers with cattle running wild on the interstate!

This year I'm bringing traffic cones that I have in the garage to use on the trip incase this happens again since club members who are fireman/police like to help!

Thats funny, I never mentioned this to anyone but I almost took out some cows on the way back from Moab(after GOX). I was coming back on Route 666(no joke) and this helacious dirt/sand storm started out of no where. After I got through it there were cows standing right next to the 2 lane 65 mph road. These were not free range cows, somehow they got out of the fence that was 20 ft away. Wierd.
