hey whats up. im looking at getting an xterra in the near future and was wondering what your opinions are about it. the hard part is deciding if i want in to be manual or not. as of now i drive a 2002 wrx thats manual and love it. but im not sure id like it with a truck. id use it for minor offroading right now. so how do these things hold up? anything i should take into consideration when looking at one. thanks

Welcome! The X's are really sturdy. if you want to offroad, I'd go for the OR (Offroad) option...it comes with a rear locker which is golden, and some other off road freindly features. As for manual vs auto....I like the manual on my '01... I prefer a manual in general....better mpg, accel, hill decent, etc... An awful lot of people find an automatic is easier (Easier being the purpose of an auto....)...and the new X's auto's come with features that compensate for a normal manual's advantages...so I suppose there's no really wrong answer...just personnal preference. Enjoy!

If you are looking at '01's...no OR option yet. Look for at least an LSD rear differential (It will have a sticker on the diff itself that says "Use LSD Oil") If you want a nice '00, one of the guys is selling his (Already modded): http://xterrafirma.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3522 and for a 2002, Jared is selling the Destination Xterra truck...LOTS of mods already: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Destinati...1QQcmdZViewItem

It's not weird, we consider it keeping it in the family. But he sold it already...so its a moot point now.

Cool, you should hook up with NJAX www.njax.net and NIORA www.nioraoffroadclub.com and get dirty!
