I know Stant makes one that fits the Xterra. Search the Parts And Accesories section, there should be plenty of posts about it. But man, why the hell would anyone steal a gas cap? Also visit http://bb.njax.net

Hi,
You can get a Stant at pretty much any auto store. The one on mine works just fine and has for the last 6 months or so. I got hit about 4 times before I realized they were taking my gas!

I just recieved mine from the same place. Better safe than sorry. No problems as of yet. I used to live in Burlington TWP for about 12 years I never heard of any one stealing just a gas cap. I mean, how lame is that.

I'm pretty sure the primary purpose of the locking gas cap was to protect the gas, not the cap itself. The two main motivating issues for a locking cap were people siphoning out gas (to steal gas), and vandalising the gas (Suger or urine, etc...in tank). Of course, with the newer OBD systems that light the Check Engine Light if the gas cap won't seal (Bad gasket, etc...)...and the new inspection emission station checks that automatically fail you if your check engine light is on.... ...the theft of working caps themselves could increase....ading a third issue.

Also telling people that they are vunerable to gas theft even with a locking gas cap is a service. Since they can check it themselves, and make sure theirs can't be removed like that.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, how much would you need to know to be completely safe?
