You don't need sliders for protection per se in the Pines...but they DO give you something to hi-lift from if you have to change a tire or get un-hi-centered, etc.
Its easier to get hi-centered...as there's soft sand, and rutted trails, mud, etc.
If one of us has a winch for example...we can just drag you off of what ever you're stuck on though....but if you have to change a tire...well, its trickier.
If still no sliders (PS there's a set of used ones for sale here...) by October...just bring a bunch of boards and 2x4's, and a towel.
