It may be too late, God forbid, but where do you suggest? I am trying to set things up. This is out to anybody who knows or has ideas.

There's this big rock, and its out on this road, out in this field. Well, ok, its not so much a field as it is a desert. But its nice there, primitive camping there dug in at the bottom, cool in the day, safe from the coyotes and whatnot at night. Oh, it's kind of reddish too.

I'll post the GPS coords soon.

Does anyone know if they still have the camping along the river south of town closed?

Most of the spots on the north side of the river were marked "no camping" when we were down there in October. I think there are some open but you have to pay.

Wait just a minute!, DBAX whats this about coyotes and a rock, you also mentioned night time. Is there not a place for my night light?
Do I have to reserve a spot, just curious I dont want to be without a place to stay when I get there.

I swear I already posted this, but I can't find it.

http://www.moab-utah.com

Everything you need to find a place, because there's nothing left in town by April 4th (imagine 3000 vehicles in town with their owners and families, in a town of 5000).

I'll end up staying in town at the Canyonlands campground. Staggering distance from nearly anywhere in town.

I'll most likely make my reservations this week for a tent spot.

You can try east of Moab at Onion Creek, it's far enough away that most people don't think to go there. But it's also a nice enough area that a few of the EJS regulars may be there.

There are tons of camping sites along the Green River but the ones near Moab will be packed, just start driving east till you find an empty spot. Same with highway 191 south of Moab.

If you end up at one of these sites try not to leave a trace of you being there, most only get attention during EJS, and some aren't legal sites.

Will there be a "group" campsite (primitive or not) for the GoneMoab crowd?
If there isnt, then I guess I better get my ass in gear and book a campsite now.
Thanx.
First major (long distance) trip for us too.

Not unless someone decides to do the leg work and get it set up. We are probably 20 trucks out of 3000+ in town that week, so the logistics are a bit of a pain.

Edited-

Huh,

I don't think I used the finger at anyone other than the guy who got 1,700 dollars of my money. Only later to have to remove his product from my truck due to design problems.

I don't try to flame people, certain vendors -yes.

Sorry for the miscommunication.

Yes, but I would recommend doing it on the goneMOAB website, not on XOC.

Here's a site with alot of general info on Onion Creek.

Onion Creek Website

It's located aprox. 20 miles east of Moab on Highway 128. The dirt road that goes up Onion Creek shows up on Mapquest.

The earlier you get there the better chance for a campsite. Same goes for just about all places within 50 miles of Moab, by Friday people will be sleeping inside their vehicles along the side of the road.
