Dan, just wondering how much of a noticeable improvement the new intake is over stock. I did a pretty thorough check of my stock intake and it seems that it is very well done for stock. The stock intake is enclose and draws cold air from two ducts behind the headlight. Only pitfall i can see is it's not a cone. Is it really worth the $280 to buy volant? Thanks for the input D.

(And sorry for littering the forums lately, i'm just excited to be a new member of XOC)

I really like the way the volant intake looks. However on the AJ performance site. It says they are only for 2001 and up. However I thought the 2000 and 2001 were the same in the engine sense. Is this true and will the volant work on a 2000?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes it will fit the 2000! 2000+2001 engines compartments are the same!

Have you noticed any problems with your engine running too lean since installing the Volant? I've heard of people having to install upgraded fuel system components on their Xterras after installing an intake to keep it from running lean. Also, do you have any idea if an intake like this voids the nissan factory warranty? Thanks.

Dan,

How much did you buy it for and what's the website? haha j/k...

Anyways, would you say the sound is the same as taking the stock airbox cover off? I would like to try this out but if its too loud, I dont know if I can handle it. So if its close to taking the stock airbox cover off, I`ll do that first to test it out the sound..

Installed Volant on my 2000 SE and it fits. smile I've driven until about half tank and it's about 180 miles(freeway). Probably about 10% increase laugh on mileage with 31" Revo's. And the overall performance has improved. About the sucking air noise, you can hear it when you open the door(coming from fender area) but once inside...it's all good. Removing the resonator...it's a b**tch on the last nut by ABS.
Overall, it's worth it..esp. with the price of gas. [Crybaby]

Has anyone installed this intake and attempted to hook it up to a snorkle? The intake part against the fender appears to be oval shaped. Maybe some bicycle tubing around the snorkle tube and the intake with zip ties would mate them togehter nicely.

Probably a silicone tubing will adapt nicley from the plastic to plastic interface.

Say, the link to these instructions appears to be dead. Does anyone have them? Also, any additional/recent input on the Volant for a SC Xterra? Thanks!
