I am wondering if Nissan has something like GM's Torque Management on the Xterra. Torque Management is a feature GM uses to reduce so called wear and tear on transmissions, rear ends, etc. It uses the PCM and drive-by-wire system to reduce throttle angle, retard ignition timing, etc when taking off from a stop, shifting the transmission (auto), and during high speed runs. This has the effect of reducing the overall power output from the engine. Sometimes the effects are quite pronounced. There is a thread located here that discusses this issue: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123667

I have read on a couple GM boards (I have a 1990 GMC Suburban) that when Torque Management is removed or reduced (done third party) the engine really comes alive.

Anyhoo, just wondering. I am personally quite happy with the power output of the 4.0L in my 2006 Xterra OR. Thanks.
