Whats wrong with the sound of a "ricer" i also own a 02 subaru wrx and i have an after-market exhaust thats the way those engines sound with less back-pressure really loud. I plan on getting the flow-master installed exclusively for the mpg increase ever look under your X theres all kinds of sound deadening and back flow reducing equipment under there but I guess thats why you mostly hear the engine.

I think what they are referring to are the stock Civic DXs out there with a Pep Boys fart can muffler and plastered with APC stickers... There is a difference between a "ricer" and a "racer"...

Hey RI Xterra, how is that setup affecting your departure angles? Worried about tearing it up at all?

Not all "Ricers" sound bad, its just when you get a tip that is big enough to stick your head into and you get that pinging noise its quite annoying. I know thats how they are set up and how the engines work but it just sounds a bit off to me. But hey, never owned one and to every man his own I guess. The flowmaster is a great sounding exhaust though, nice and powerful sounding. Really works well with an Airaide intake or any for that matter i would guess.

Well if you look at from that angle it looks low but in person the hitch would take most of the scraping before the exhaust would..

For all you with Flowmasters.
I know when I installed them on my Mustang GT we would get what we call "drone" inside the cabin. Around 2000 RPM to 2300 RPM you really wouldn't be able to hear the radio or talk to any one. And when you step on it, forget hearing anything except exhaust.
Is this what it's like with a Flowmaster on a X?

Thanks,
Hutch

Not at all, I just got my flowmaster 40 installed today and I was a little disapointed in the sound. It is louder then stock, but not much. It still was worth the money though, total of $87 including install. I didnt wanted that really loud sound when you step on the gas that you get from a mustang or camaro. Since the X doesn't have a big V8 like thoughs cars or trucks the out put in much less so its not as loud crusing or acceleration. It sound much better then stock, but no where near as loud as a large dodge or chevy. Over all Im happy with it.

I got a flowmaster series 40 installed on my 240sx with the SOHC engine. Sounded really bad, sputtering, backfiring a little. The muffler shop said I needed a tuneup. I called flowmaster, and after I told them what model was on the car, he asked if it was sputtering and backfiring. They said a 60 series Deltaflow was the one for my car. Got it, sounds awesome. :p
