I'm looking at installing a winch bumper as well as rock sliders. I plan on upgrading the front suspension in the process. I was looking at Bilstein shocks as well as stiffer torsion bars. I might be able to get away w/ 2" of lift, however, 3" would be cutting it close when going into our garage. frown

I was wondering a couple of things....
  • First, how much stiffer shocks do I need.
  • Second, is there any difference between the various torsion bars that are sold by EOE, Calmini, SLR, 4x4parts, and others?

Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the info. [Wave]
Edited for the typos. Thanks MR. XOC(Xtra Offensive Comedian) smile

I don't know anything about your torsion bars, but your first question is easy.

Shocks do NOT increase load capacity. That is not their job. Their only function is to damp down the action of your springs. If you don't increase spring rate, then you don't need to change shocks. If you increase the rate of your springs, then you need to install shocks that offer enough damping not to allow the spring to oscillate or "pogo".

Bistein shocks seem to be popular upgrades for Xterras and I would recommend them. I've like almost all sets I've ridden on.

Mounting a lewd woman to the front of your Xterra is not recommended.

Ya know you talked me out of it. I won't cruise main street looking for a wench to mount on my bumper.

I know, I'll mount a "winch" bumper instead! Yea, that it a winch bumper. That way I'll increase my angle of descent and stop scrapping my stock bumper! That a good idea.

so I had a typo. I fixed it. [Uh Oh !]

BTW-according to this post by XOC , there are to be "No more grammar checks." smile
