After looking at Sgt Lobo's X and some others (Ned I think), I need to better understand pros and cons regarding revolvers. I understand why you would want them, I just don't know handling effects, load carrying, etc. Why isn't everyone running these things? It looks like they are a HUGE benefit, especially without a locker in place. ------------------ My wife calls it the "Intrepid Bee", I call it "Tonka". craigs-tonka@home.com www.azxterraclub.com

Do a quick search in ths forum on revolvers and you will get more information about them than you could ever want.

Sorry, but my search didn't answer my questions. If anyone could take a moment to be helpful, I would appreciate it. BTW wqbang, your old post just had a link that is dead and no discussion. ------------------ My wife calls it the "Intrepid Bee", I call it "Tonka". craigs-tonka@home.com www.azxterraclub.com

I looked at the manufacturers sight about three weeks ago, and there was no mention of product availability for the X. Is this just a product adaptation or is there one available for us?

Yes Teraflex makes them specifically for the Xterra. I have seen their ad in Four Wheeler mentioning this. Jason ------------------ www.ec4x4e.com "I'm loaded with good ideas, problem is that most of them suck!" - George Carlin

It seems when you really want to learn something it is difficult. Being told to search for something and find nothing and then nobody providing input gets frustrating. I thought that's what this board was all about, but it seems that more people are interested in hanging out to post junk than help others that want to learn, just because it may have been discussed before. ------------------ My wife calls it the "Intrepid Bee", I call it "Tonka". craigs-tonka@home.com www.azxterraclub.com

You got that right, TONKA !! ...
Aren't you tired of the 'use search', 'that's been covered before', 'FNG', 'firewood' routine ? ...
More bandwidth is wasted yapping about those things than would be if someone would just answer the questions asked ...
I saw one poster tonight who was making his very first post, being taken to task by some forum members for not using Search and left off calling him a FNG and 'firewood' ...
C'mon folks ... it's gotten real old ...

The reason many people post "use the search you FNG!" is post inflation. Some people think that the more posts you have made the smarter you are. Sorry the link was broken. BTW, there is a reason that people tell people to search. It is to cut down on overposting the same questions. I am terribly sorry your feelings were hurt, but get over it. Hey! guys, I have an idea! Why don't you fill up this thread with crap about how you hate people who tell you to search! That'll make everything MUCH better!
Anywho... Aside from unbalanced articulation, some people dislike them because of potential safety issues in emergency maneuvers.

See, that wasn't so tough now was it. If you would have done that 3 days ago instead of telling me to search, this thread would have died with about 3 posts,,, but nooooo, instead we're up to 13 posts and counting. And as far as my feelings go, they don't get hurt that easily so don't humor yourself. I feel sorry for someone that gets so worked up over someone asking a question about something. Why don't you do some good and try to police all the worthless babble instead of the stuff actually related to Xterras. ------------------ My wife calls it the "Intrepid Bee", I call it "Tonka". craigs-tonka@home.com www.azxterraclub.com [This message has been edited by Craigs_Tonka (edited 07-15-2001).]

Believe me, I am not worked up over this. I didn't respond for three days because I didn't read this forum for 3 days. I don't moderate the worthless drivel, because I don't bother to read it any more. *I* told you to search because I knew I had already posted about them, and the topic had been coverd throughly. I apologized for the error.
Soooooo... as a moderator I tell you to search for a reason. I didn't flame, and used a neutral tone. So why exactly are you worked up? If you don't like people telling people to search, just read something else, because it will continue until the end of time.

Way too much body roll for me.
Once Ian digs his heels in the dirt, that's it! To be fair to Ian, there is a group that does not feel comfortable with the principal. But that's okay, its not for them. Steve at Calmini shares Ians concerns and he does have a ton of experience. I am a recreational type off-roader and I'm experimenting, but I was the one that brought them to market and I've used them very successfully for over a year. Revolvers provide droop; the lack of anti-roll bar (which most people have already removed) provides body roll. As St. Lobo has stated and I've stated for over a year, the Revolver is the best modification period. ....and according to off road guru's the better your performance, the better your vehicle. The Revolver improves your performance. Is it the ideal set up compared to a solid front axle spring over, NO. But get real.... Ned feel free to e-mail me. ned946@wwc.com ------------------

Ned, Lobo Are you using wheel spacers to get the clearance required for adequete tire stuff. How do these affect drivability? This issue is why I haven't done this yet. Would someone that has these please clarify. Also, what about shock mount relocation? Where do you relocate them to? Pictures? Thanks ------------------ kennedyusmc@earthlink.net "Bring me the donut Mojo"

The revolvers bias the majority of the suspension articulation to the rear of the vehicle, causing excessive roll of the body in relation to the chassis and Earth. I didn't mean excessive body roll while cornering. ------------------ Regards, Ian

So why does it looked scrubbed clean? If there were a rock or something embedded in the dirt under the tire I suppose that would account for it. It does seem a bit too far inside on the tire to be from rubbing on the fender lip, unless Ned put in 3" spacers or something Brent ------------------ I am The Radiskull of Borg. Ian is correct. That skid mark is from the first failed attempt to get up on the step. I sorta had the X in 2WD. There are plenty of rocks just under the silt from people stacking rocks to get traction up onto the steps (you will notice all the holes around where our rear tires are?). Anyway, the X wasn't climbing so I gunned it a bit and spun. Then looked at the transfer case lever and realized I was in 2WD....then switched to 4WD and climbed up! Chalk it up to a bone head manuver, brain fart or whatever ------------------

Finally got some numbers for those who want to know. Did the 20 degree ramp at Calmini with the front sway bars connected and went up 80" (as measured perpendicular to the ramp). With a wheel base of 102" (is that right?) the RTI would be a 784. Not bad! Pics of the RTI and of Calmini are here: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1611231&a=13581818 ------------------
