Ok this is not a tire fitment question I know all that jazz. What I need to know is what other vehicle upgrades do I need when I put on 33x10.50 BFG Mud Terrains. I know about the trimming etc. What I need is stuff such as joints, axles, calibration of sensors, that kind of stuff. Already have the Calmini Steering so no worries there. Thanks alot and if you feel the need flame away, I have a thick skin, Uncle Sam issued me one!!!!.

You should be alright with just some trimming. There is really no need for all that other stuff. Other than that....enjoy.

As far as I know, as long as you're lifting and trimming it, and have the steering, you're good to go as far as the 33's go. I don't think there's a speedo re-calibration avail...no new gear to swap in like the jeeps, etc...you'll just be racking up more miles than it says on the odometer (Good when you sell it, bad when you keep passing the exits you wanted....) Makes it seem like the gas mileage drops (You get fewer miles/tank according to the odometer, etc...) A GPS works pretty good as a speedometer if you have one. You may hear BS about the ABS not working right anymore...its BS. Been there, done that, it works fine on every rig I've had/driven with upgraded tire size...ignore the shops/freinds who say there's an ABS prob on bigger tires. That's about it unless you want to regear the diffs and other hardcore stuff (Won't make it stronger, just keeps the engine rpms in the same range as stock and or improves your crawl ratio/hill gearing, etc.) New lo-range t-case gears would be more bang for the buck off road...diff gearing for on-road. You don't need any of it. You'll just want it someday... The axles are pretty strong already. Enjoy! - TJ

thanks all for the great info. one other thing i thought of is power. will there be much of a power drop in the truck from 33's as opposed to 32's. that is my only real concern. thanks alot again.

You won't see much difference between 32's and 33's in gearing...its a small percentage increase.

You've got 4.90 gears in the diffs already, you'll be better off going from stock 31s to 33s than those of us non-SC folks with 4.636 gears are going from stock 30s to 32s. You're seeing ~6.45% change in overall gearing, but you have 5.7% deeper gears than us. We're seeing a ~7.1% difference in overall gearing.

I'm confused. I thought my truck was 4.636 gears, NOT an SC version either??? So how does that change things for me???

The 2002 and newer V6s got 4.90s except the SC kept the 4.636.

I have a 2000 SE...I installed the 33x10.50 BFG MT KM's on a rim with a 12mm offset. I found that they required a great deal of trimming, including metal at the rear of the front wheel wells. I have a lift installed, but it is not cranked up as high as it could. My issue was turning the wheel during a stuff...severe rubbing. The two pieces of plastic fore and aft of the front wheels were removed. It is not too pretty, but I redused the rubbing to nearly nothing.
They look great. Odo is off by 10%. I have tested this on my drive back from GOX. 100 highway miles=90 in my truck. Well that is one way to lower the mileage on the vehicle.....

I upgraded to 4.90 gears earlier this month, and my speedo is now DEAD ON compared to my GPS w/ my 32" BFGs.
