G'Day, Most of the folks 'round here are gonna recommend either a Blisten set (most recommended I think) or a set of Rancho's (good too, bye!)

Take it easy! and welcome bye laugh

The stock suspension can take a beating if you want to upgrade your shocks I just put on the Bilis and they made a substantial improvement.

Dont forget Rancho, I know a few with the Ranchos and they swear by them also!!!

nahh not really any mods yet....I just got a wagg grille guard, and mounted a set of lights on it...but thats about it....I only got my X in Jan...so haven't really been about to put away any money for mods yet....I'm planning a set of 31x10.5's BFG's, and I hope to get a lift sometime in the near future. How about you? any mods? what about you friend, does he have any? I have a few pics of my X in the pictures section.....post up some of yours!!!

As for the pics....all the details are at the top in the pictures section on how to do it....go to a site www.imageshack.us, and upload your pics.....and it will give ya lots of url's (links to your pics) What I do is pick the one that links to the full size image, and right click it to copy that link.....then go in the picture section and type [img]then paste the link and then type [/img] at the end of your link...that should link it up for ya.....after ya do it the first time you'll get the hang of it.

As for the grille guard, I bought it off a guy from mt. pearl. he had it on his X, but he sold her, and I bought the guard off him....the lights aren't great, I cheaped out for a set at can tire, the BAJA ones, just so that the guard would look finished....So I really lucked out on that one.....how do you find your tires??

cool man...I wanna get the BFG AT's....they really give them a good name....and I am only a mild offroader, done a few light trails around here...nothing extreme...like some guys on here....I look at some of the pics on here, and say Gezzz thats crazy....but it looks f**king awesome!! My X is a daily driver, so I can't razz her up too bad. Well not yet anyway!! But i'm truely lovin it!! Did you have any trouble gettin the tires to fit, with the stock suspension?? Some say that you have to do some minor trimmin of the plastic's...did you??

the tires fit ok, but i still have to trim some plastic up front, i have a minor rub when i have the wheels turnned all the way. if you get 31x10.5 you will diffently have to cut plastic. the BFG are a really nice tire. im kinda like your self when it comes to wheelin, i enjoy riding back roads and the occasional mud hole but my X is a daily driver as well....im working on the pics so i will post them soon. i must say ever since i got mine i have been really impressed, its really solid handles the road well...but its a pig on gas!!!!

hahaha!! yeah...they do like the gas....but mine wasen't as bad as I thought it was gonna be tho..well mines std. as well so that helps alittle.....whats yours?? But the way everyone was talkin....I was like..ohh no!! But actually was abit impressed!! Now no doubt the bigger tires will burn up a bit more too. Gas prices suck!!

unfortunaitly, mine is automatic!!! i would lovre to have an 5 spd, but i took what i could get when i was looking. a little hint for ya, in stead of burning all the gas in the tank, fillup when it gets to half tank...its cheaper to fill it up and you will always have a full tank or close to full. i figure i lost about 25km to a tank when i put my tires on. The BFG/s are a real nice tire but in town you will pay big bucks for them...the timberline MT's are another good buy..GCR in st anns Industrial park gave me 70$ off each tire..no questions asked its was a sweet deal!

Cool...sounds good...I may just check that out...I want the BFG's but they are expensive, so I may look at other options....But I'm afraid that some of the other brands wear faster then the BFG's....When I had my cavy with the 17" wheels, I used to have to put a new set on it every summer $$$$....and that sucked. I just want something with a nice aggressive thread, with good wear, not noisy, and not expensive!! I was looking at the Calmini lifts last nite on here...dammm I want one sooo bad!! Oh ya hows the picture thing working?? figure it out yet??

Well, it is good to see a few more Newf's finally showing up laugh ... I see so many Xterra's in and around St. John's I was wondering when some would show up here!

I just got me rig back last thursday and it runs great again so I am up for a cruise somewhere I imagine, just let me know when and I will see [ThumbsUp]

I was after a set of BFG AT's as well but I got a deal on some Long Trails I couldn't say no to so they will have to do for now.

I also considered some Toyo Open Country AT's from a spot in Airport Heights (Tirecraft) and some Pirelli Scorpion AT's from TJ's off of Torbay Road. Both would have ran about $1000 installed for 4 though and the Long Trails ran $466 installed so I couldn't say no. A set of Revo's from Costco will run about $950 I think. Speedy on Kenmount sells BFG AT's for about $175 plus tax a tire (I think), probably your best spot for them in town. [Wave]

Hey hoppy...yup...the list is growing!! I also made a post last nite on newfoundlandmotorsports.com to see if there were any Xterra owners on there...but nobody has responded yet anyway. So yeah...xnfld and maybe his buddy, and I would be willing to go for a little run somewhere around the end of the month....that is if I don't have to work...so we will all have to be in touch, and see if we can plan something. Should be a laugh for sure....
But nothing too exteme!!

As for the tires...I want the BFG's, but not sure which ones that I'll end up gettin...Have ya been out to the new walmart on Kenmount yet?? They have a nice looking set out there....they look alot like the BFG's, now I know they are not as good but they are only $103 +tax a tire....so I've thought about them as well, since the price is awesome!! Check um out sometime...

are all our X's silver in color..cause mine is and my buddies is, i know newfiex's is silver how about yours Hoppy???? if you go on the NOVA site there are some trails that they do..i know the trail going from kilbride to petty harbour is a good one, i have friends who love the trail...nothin to serious a little mud and some rocks..all of which doable!!

all the same..i dont think the tires a walmart would be any good....stick with something that will give you a bit of warrenty and you know will be a good tire. if you want a tire that will last stick withthe BFG's AT's, the long trails are almost like a street tire really small tread, i had them on mine wheni first bought my x and they were garbage. but its good to see you shopping around...But buyer beware!!!

yeah so!! myself and my buddy will be in town the end of april, and we are stoked about gettin abit dirty...so lets stay in touch maybe we can go whellin for the day

Yeah I am not too keen on the Walmart tires either ... kinda like the roughriders from crappy tire ... you get what you pay for in the end laugh .

The BFG Long Trails are a great highway tire and I do a ton of driving for work so they seemed like the smart choice for what I payed. Great in the rain too I find. Next will be a set of AT's I hope, but the Long Trails are good enough for what I do for now.

A buddy of mine with a Liberty (Ch-eep  ) are hoping to get out this weekend for a run somewhere, maybe in CBS or something. Nothing serious, just want to get out and enjoy the weather if it is sunny again laugh

Oh, and my X is silver as well [ThumbsUp] .

yeah..so thats the 4 of us with silver X's....haha!! cool. And I just love my X. After going from a little 2 dr. cavalier, with no options, up to this X, fully loaded...the difference is unreal. And I'm truely lovin it!!

And the long trails are what I have on my X now, like you say, they are great on the highway, but not so great offroad, or in deep snow...But I made it threw the winter, and had alot of fun doing it none the less!!! Hope to get a good set when I sell the 17" rims and tires that I had on the cavy...

So yeah hopefully the end of the month we can all do alittle run...and have a laugh.

That doesn't suprise me, warrunty work is touchy stuff. They are good folks in at O'Neils though, well to me they are anyway. One of the guys at the parts counter (Brian) is a great guy and has always been a big help to me.

The way I see it with the Long Trails is that they are fine in the snow, and if the snow gets to deep that is what 4WD is for laugh ... they aren't too bad off road when you are only into novice stuff ... deep, thick mud hits them hard (not self cleaning) as well as rough rock trails (puntures and stuff), but for just travelling on the back roads and over powerline trails they are fine ... as long as you have a buddy to help you along if you need it you are fine ... but AT's woudl be better laugh

yeah i here ya about the warrenty work!! i have timberline AT's and they are aewsome...they are 31x10.5 and the just feel like you are floating over mud and snow...its a cool feeling! the AT's i think are more practical for highway driving, thats why i went with them instead of MT's, the MT's are super noisey at 60km/h. plus highway driving kills the tread wear!!

The MT's aren't great in the rain either (reportedly anyway)... hopefully the amount of miles I drive decreases over the next year so buying AT's wouldn't be bad. laugh

One of the contractors I have working on one of my sites has the Timberline MT's on the trucks and they are sweet ... I am still partial to the BFG AT T/A KO's myself ... or maybe the Toyo's if the price was right. laugh

Damm guys...I was just in a small back road that we have around here....and man...they are really soft....I guess all the rain hasen't help any, but I had myself a bit worried there for a while, when she sank down pretty good...but she made it out!! smile I'f I would have slacked, she'd of been stuck for sure....Not a fun feeling by yourself, and my cell phone left at home...hehe!! Oh my!! I'm gonna do it one of these days for sure...it was only a short road, like 10 minutes in....so I figured that I'd see what it was like, cause the last time I was in, the snow was way too rotten....Oh well...that was my adventure for today...haha!! haha!! nope...at the time it gets a bit weary on the nerves, but now, ya look back and say "hey man that was awesome!!" haha!! yeah gotta watch some of the roads now..they are really soft....I bet if there was anyone else with me, and help tear up the road even more...I'd say one of us would have been stuck for sure. I had a hard enough time gettin back out, with just my track going in. All I could hear was the mud scrapping along the flaps...I had to giver a few times, to get threw it and she used to pull, almost off into the tree's....Sucks that all the water I had to drive threw on the way out cleaned most of the mudd off again before it dried, or I would have got a few pics....maybe another time!!

Momentum!1 is the the key when your going through mud and water, but make sure you dont spin the tires too much or you could digg yourself a nice hole to get stuck in!! I was off wheelin last night with a friend of mine in a ford ranger...he didnt even come close to what i was doing in the mud..had to use the recovery strap to pull him out within the first 5 minutes!!! BOOOO FORD!!!!!!!!

I had a very small leak around one of the seals in the steering arms ... I added some GUNK sealant stuff and it seems to stop it for now ... might help you out for a few days if you need it ... like 3 bucks at Walmart or something ... [Wave]
