Ok well recently I did the PML and the install seemed to go very smooth and quick.. I noticed the X seemed to sit higher on one side, so I measured. Sure enough in the rear it sits 36" from the ground to middle of the fender trim on the driver’s side and 35.5 on the passenger side. The front seemed to be the same on both sides.. What could cause the rear to be off? The tires cant be the issue because the spring plate sits the same exact height on both sides.. I did have to crank the drivers side torsion bar 2-3 times more than the passenger side to get them to line up, almost seemed like it was messed up because it was much easier to turn than the passenger side.. Any ideas?

the same exact thing happened when i did my pml. couple extra cranks on the driver side and measured from the wheel wells with a half inch difference. then i slapped myself in the head and measured from the frame.
everything equalled out perfect.
plus remeasure after a day of driving so everything can settle.

It seems that the issue is in the rear, not the front.

To the original poster: it may be the case that your leaf springs in the rear have sagged a bit. That happens over time. If you think that in fact it's the case then either get a new set of springs or replace the rear shackles used for the lift with AALs. However, the rear will articulate better with the shackles rather than the AALs, if that's any concern to you.

18 gals of fuel on one side? Just a thought...
Mines the same rear 36/35.5 front 35/35...

Also make sure you're on really level ground when you measure. Thats the issue I had when I thought I had one side higher than the other.

Did you ever get this resolved?

You'll drive yourself insane trying to get things level. Consider yourself lucky that it's the right side that's lower and it's only 1/2 inch. That way when you get in it's probably close to level. Mine's lower on the left by that much, so probably over an inch after I get my fat ass in! Oh, and I have never seen a perfectly level production car or truck.

And good luck finding a perfectly flat and level place to check it. Even if you think it's level it probably isn't. Closest you might get is an ice rink or something, but then you have to get the Xterra inside!

If you use the Zamboni door, its not that hard to get into the rink.

Its kind of overkill for leveling...but hellacious fun once on the ice.



If you get within a 1/2" on your leveling, consider yourself in good shape...the OEM trucks are no closer.
