My service engine soon light (steady not blinking) on my '04 came on last sunday afternoon, by sunday night it wouldnt start, the starter cranks but the engine wont turn over. Its been sent in for repairs but i was wondering if anyone had any input as to what it could be, i think its the fuel system but who knows. i had the battery disconnected for about 2 hours whie running some hardlines for my stereo system could that have done anything to screw up the fuel system or ECU? any input would be greatly apreciated. i hope the thing is ready tomorrow i9m dyeing form being away form it... thanks....

This was a common problem with earlier Xterras. The fuel sending unit would become corroded and needs to be replaced. It is actually a recall that Nissan did and repaired for free. Talk to your dealer. Its probably in the search too.

I don't recall that there was a service engine soon light associated with the sending unit problem.

Good that it was just the ECU. An easy to fix/replace part.

Have you ever replace that thing? It looks like it is easy, but it's a major PITA to get out. laugh
