I'm looking at possibly having to replace the engine on my 2001 4X4. Has anyone ever dropped in anything with more HP?

Just figure if I have to go that route, I might as well explore some options...

Mark, try looking in the performance, drivetrain, and backyard mechanics forums using the term "engine swap". It's been covered extensively here and general opinion is it will be not only cost prohibitive, but fairly impossible for you, me, and our local talent pool to accomplish.. Sorry again to hear of your misfortune

haha, I guess I'm not the first person to have thoughts down this path then eh? And yeah, I don't venture out past AZXC much...

I'll browse around, and keep praying a new engine isn't in my future....

I have an 01 with 97k with a lot of issues and I've been toying around with the idea of swapping it out for a S/C 3.3 from a 2002+. And obviously beefing it up with a pulley, and headers, maybe a cam, etc..
There are a bunch of issues with hood clearance, ECM, wiring,etc. in doing this..
But hey, worth a shot.
