I can't get into FPS games anymore, MMOPOGS or whatever they're called don't interest me, and stuff like The Sims can't catch my attention for more than ten seconds. Anybody else played the demo for GTR? Holy shit this is one beeeaaaaaautiful driving game. Man oh man does it get my heart twitching. I even ordered a new joystick just for this, and am going to buy it as soon as I see it in stores. http://www.gtr-game.com/index.php?page=frontpage0 Any other really outstanding driving games out there I should look for (PC, not console). Ugh, I just made a mess in my pants:

I say it was ok, only because I just tried that game and all I can say is HOLY SHIT!!!! it was awesome. Can't wait to try it with a wheel

NFS Underground was great, but was a little unrealistic. I really thought NFS Porche Unleashed had the best drivability, but now is a little old and won't be taking advantage of the nice 3D graphics cards that we've been upgrading too. I run a Xtasy 9600 256 MB DDR AGP in an old 1.3 Ghz with 512 MB SDRAM. Still works ok, but will probably be a little choppy with GTR. [After trying there was no chop evident even with running full graphics at 1280 X 1024 32bit ] I'll give a try though. I hope the Full version will have Multiplayer capability and maybe internet play.

Thanks for turning me on to the demo! It was very difficult to drive at first, but I also had the sound turned off so my baby could sleep. I had to turn it up just a bit to hear that I was skidding all over the place and my engine was revving like crazy. I now have it under control and am contemplating buying the game when the full version comes out. Oh ya, I ran full details and 1280 X 1024 32bit and still couldn't see any chop... Works excellent on my aging system. Good thing I bought a great graphics card. Thanks again.

I guess it all depends on the game. Before upgrading my Vid Card I had a Voodoo 5500. Great for its time, but not DirectX9 compatible. Wouldn't run crap. I upgraded to play NFS Underground. My CPU Really slows me down with games like DOOM3. I have set all kinds of stuff really low to keep it playable. I'll check out some of the other games people have sugested, but not to hijack the thread... Is there any good Flight/Fighter Sims that aren't so damn hard to play that they're no fun, out there? I had a real good one called US Navy Fighters back in the 90's, but it runs in a DOS environment. Not quite XP Friendly. Was never able to get it to work again with the newer hardware.

Not a driving game, but the mention of US Navy Fighters reminded me of a great DOS submarine game from my youth: Gato. Loved that game!
