I'm coming close to 15000 miles and I'm concerned with what needs to be checked and/or replaced at this marker. Please list what you've had done and what you'd expect to be checked at the 15000 mile checkup. Thanks, Adam.

Your owners manual covers in detail what the recommended maintenance schedule is and what to check/replace. There is different recommended schedules such as Schedule A or Schedule B. One is more detailed and expensive then the other... a premium maintenance or basic schedule if you will.

15,000 would probably be an oil change and tire rotation for basic maintenance, but check your owners manual to be sure.

dont forget to go on nissans web page and order your % discount on service, and also order through the internet your in-cabin filter.

I made up a one page Microsoft word file with the maintanence intervals for this next gen X in an easy to read bullet format broken down by mileage. It is straight from the manual but the one page format is easier to track than flipping through the book.

If you want me to e-mail it to you as an attachment just let me know. E-mail me at my address and I will send it your way.

Good luck.

John

This is not difficult.
Listen, I got all the friggin' crap with my truck I'm not stupid, so just tell me what you had done, very easy. Come on.

I think that pretty much answers your question

While I have the feeling he's getting a little fed up with the answers, I think he's looking for what other people realistically did, and possibly how much did you spend. I'm not sure exactly what was on that list in my manual, but items like "replace windshield wipers" shouldn't have to be listed... I'd love to help you man, but i'm not even at 12000 yet wink

Here is what I did.

1 - Changed the oil. Mobil1 Synthetic
2 - Changed the air filter
3 - Changed the in cabin filter
4 - Rotated my tires
5 - Visually inspected brakes, suspension, steering, etc..

That is pretty much it. at 30K I will change all fluids. However, I noticed this morning I have a bad squek in the brakes. Time to have the dealer replace after reading the brake TSB.

Hope this helps.

So hostile... Obviously you are too lazy to read
through your owner's manual. But you know what?
Unless you want to drop off your vehicle to get
serviced by the dealership and pay up the ass, maybe
you should consider reading your "friggin' crap."
Then pick and choose the repairs that most make
sense off the list that applies to you. DUH!!!!!

And like you said "very easy. Come on."

PLS expand on the Brake TSB!!!!

Dealer had me pay for rotors to be machined at 20,000km! Now there is a service bulletin?

Question 1 - Think I can get my money back
Question 2 - What are the Odds in getting the TSB service under warranty now that I'm at 40,000km. (brakes only squeal the odd time now)

Won't have too much warranty left soon, and want to make sure I'm covered head to toe on repairs!

Good lord, people. How can a flame fest start over something like this?

My advice:

1. Change oil/filter, air filter, and in-cabin filter yourself. I use Amsoil oil and filters, a drop-in K&N air filter, and the OEM in-cabin filter.
2. Take your rig to a private shop you trust and have them visually inspect the basics like your brakes, serp belt, and hoses. This should take about 10 minutes.
3. If you didn't have your tires rotated at 10K like a good boy, then do it now.
4. Save money to do real maintenance, like fluid changes, at 30,000. It will come soon enough.

For everyone having a love affair with their owner's manual, that's nice. It's usually just a decent guide to keep idiots from neglecting proper maintenance. It is also a covert way to ensure high service charges at the stealership, especially this early in the vehicle's life. An owner's manual doesn't substitute for having a general clue about proper maintenance and upkeep. But hey, if you like paying for your steering wheel to be greased every 5K, go for it. wink

You guys are doing all the fluids at 30K?
Is it really necessary? I just have bad experience with letting dealers replacing tranny lube on automatics when not necessary (my 01 Volvo S60 box did not last too long after scheduled tranny flush performed by a dealership). I'd like to avoid letting them mess with that stuff if possible...

I hope that I wasn't misunderstood in my previous post. I was honestly trying to be helpful, not sarcastic. That is the one problem with e-mail as the tone of voice at times is lost in text.

Here is the text from my document (cut and pasted).

Maintenance Schedule

Every 5,000 miles OR 6 months:
• Change oil & filter (5 3/8 Quart 5W-30 or 10W-30)
o Use Mobile One synthetic oil with Nissan or Nampa Gold 1356 filter
• Rotate tires every 5,000 miles (Nissan recommended rotation at 7,500 miles)

Every 15,000 miles OR 12 months:
• Change engine air filter
• Change in-cabin microfilter
• Change wiper blades
• Lubricate all locks / hinges

Every 30,000 miles OR 24 months:
• Change automatic transmission fluid
o Genuine Nissan Matic J ATF
• Change differential oil
o Front final drive
 API GL-5 SAE 80W-90 Gear Oil
o Rear final drive
 API GL-5 Synthetic SAE 75W-90 Gear Oil
• Change transfer case oil
o Genuine Nissan Matic D ATF
• Change radiator cap
• Change engine belts

105,000 miles OR 84 months (7 years):
• Change spark plugs

As others have suggested I agree that a tire rotation is likely due, in-cabin filter change, air filter change (very important) and wiper blade change. Other than that, you should be ready to go.

In regards to the most recent post I know what you mean about keeping people from messing with your vehicle more than needed. I will be changing out my transmission fluids at 30K but will either do it myself or find someone that I trust. You have a valid point.

John

if you got all the "friggin crap" with your truck then look through that "crap" and locate your owner's manual...have someone who knows how to read decipher and explain it to you since you don't have enough common sense to do it on your own.

Is there an oil filter that is better then others for the X. I just did my 3,000 and used a Purolater. Sure looks like a small filter to me though.
